At this stage of the game it looks like Sydney are no going to play the game in a fair manner. What would you prefer the club do
  • Accept pick 22 plus the possiblity of Jessie White
  • Call off the trade talks with Sydney and send Tippett to the PSD thus losing any reward

It's not such a simple choice. The key calculation: 'is Sydney likely to get $kirt if we send him to the PSD?'.

If we calculate yes, we should take the best deal (probably #22).

If we calculate no, then I would tend to vote for sending him to the PSD.

Yeah, I reckon you maybe right but if we don't fight fire with fire by making Gary Rohan a priority the next time he's out of contract is a strong indication we soft.

Offer him a larger contract and then just low ball them. Get him to nominate Adelaide and only Adelaide and then we give them Pick 50. It's all good in love, war, trading and AFL football.

No chance in hell Rohan would do that to Sydney, he's a quality kid.

Correctomundo dude!

.......Because we have to keep in mind the aim is to f...k over $kirt, Voldamort* and Sydney.

If Sydney get $skirt for free in the PSD then we are the ones who've been f....d over.

If Sydney do get him for just #22 then I am all for long-term revenge. Target their players and lobby like hell to get the COL allowance ditched.

and yet you're happy to bring into your club someone who did exactly that to his former club.

good luck keeping your famous culture intact - you're going to need it.

Although I'm not overly confident, I'll be quoting the motherf***er out of this thread when Noble brings home a top 5 pick... :D

Can I ask, sincerely, without any intent to cause an angry response what the difference between what Sydney is doing with Adelaide and what the Crows did with Carlton in the Sauce trade?

Sydney have you over the coals - just like the Crows did with Carlton in the Sauce trade. Any other possibly interested parties (in Jacobs' case Port Adelaide, in Tippett's case Brisbane, Gold Coast, Carlton, Melbourne) have backed right away from the trade table if not gone in other directions entirely (Dawes to Melbourne).

I honestly believe it sucks every bit as much as you do. You develop a player and make him into a star and then he wants to leave your club and head to another and you are forced to take less than "market value" for the guy. It's a bad system. You cannot even genuinely call it a buyers market as buyers would be plural and signify multiplicity.

Good luck with the trade. Hope you take the pick(s) and draft absolute guns. You certainly have the recruiting officers that are capable of doing that. Who knows? You may be better off long-term.

Yeh I'm in the same boat.. if we get a good pick for the DAWWG ill be refering people to the "Don't Worry Be Happy" thread.. if not "stuff him he was hardly worth pick 22 anyway" :P

We did offer Carlton a better pick which was entirely fair for Jacobs at that stage, but as they sat around demanding our first pick and Talia, we ended up using it in another trade (that I'd rather not talk about :D:().

Not to mention Kurt is a 96 game KP player whilst Jacobs at that stage was a 3rd or 4th in-line ruckman

Daniel Harford on SEN.

Harf: Rumour is white and 23 to Adelaide for Tippett. Does that sound a little light on to you?

Other guy: yeah, won't get it done

Harf: well Adelaide is a young club, lacking a bit of culture, Sydney should chuck in that Kenny Williams bloke....

No we're not, forget where he could end up in the draft, it's inconsequential. By sending him into the draft sends a clear message to clubs that will no longer accept shitty trades from clubs that attempt to poach our players.

By accepting 22 all we are doing is telling opposition clubs to come and poach our players and if they play hardball by getting the player to reject trades to any other club the Crows will just grab whatever token draft pick the club sees fit to offer us.

Its the lowest pick they HAVE. It's not like they can pluck a lower one out of their arse!

You do realize that at some point people are going to realize that your attempts at pithy one liners are substanceless and missing the point, right? Read what I've posted again and try to justify this as a valid response.

Putting Kurt in the PSD would require no 'divine intervention'.
Putting Kurt in the PSD is the easy bit, ensuring he doesn't make it to Sydney is out of our control. Nothing GWS have said indicates they will pick him against his will. In fact mostly to the contrary. It makes your 3 preferences all completely hypothetical and without fact.

Yet I have no substance, fair enough.

So who's going to take White, sydneys first two draft picks for a top ten draft pick that is passed on to us?

Can you explain how Sydney or any other club get him for FREE via the draft? There is a lot of misunderstanding on this board on how the draft works. No club gets any player for free, each player taken via a draft cost a draft pick. So if Sydney were to take Tippet in the PSD it would cost them the same pick 23 that is being talked about as being on traded to us.

Hi Tex Support and welcome to the Board

Im not sure how long you, Wood Duck and some others have been folllowing AFL but do the names John Mc Carthy, Nick Stevens and even Lachlan Veale ring any bells?
I've been following lots of different pro sports (including AFL) for an undisclosed amount of time, and know enough to expect that when a star player behaves like Tippett, they generally get their way, and the club they leave gets screwed. Having said that, any eventual deal is defined by what the club (in this case, Adelaide) does with what they receive from that deal.

I believe we can either use picks 19 and 23 to trade in a player-type we require, or to move up the draft board into the top 12. We only have space for 2 or 3 more players on the list anyway, so I believe having 2 relatively good picks close together can be used to Adelaide's advantage.

What some Adelaide supporters need to realise, is that the club was always on the backfoot from a value point of veiw based on the way Tippett's team has manipulated the situation. What they also need to realise is that yes, Tippett for pick 23 and Jesse White is an ordinary deal, but only if thats where the club leaves it. Judge the deal at the end of trade week, because there's a fair chance that the AFC will actually get something of value out of this whole process.
