I was for taking 22 over nothing. but now White being thrown in sounds like it will happen, that's actually insulting and I would rather nothing. Would make us the laughing stock.

Because any assessment of their best interests suggests to me that it is indeed in their best interests for them to do it, the same for a number of other clubs.
Your assessment of the GWS best interests? Id be more interested in what the GWS think is in their best interest.

Maybe GWS don't think that picking a bloke who doesn't want to be there and making him your second highest paid player is in their best interest.

Its one thing to state that you would be interested in trading for a bloke, its an entirely different scenario to force a bloke to your club against their will.

Recent history suggests that when an out of contract player nominates a club, that's where they end up even if they have to use the PSD to get there.

Its a crap situation but player managers have clearly worked out how to create a free agency situation within the current system. Be angry at the sytem, be angry at Bulcher, and be angry at Sydney for their blood thirty approach to this trade.

From now on i rather draft a majority of South Australians, despite if they are an inferior choice in the draft order.

There's a lot of truth here. Somehow, the AFL must make homegrown players more accessible to their home state. Say no to interstate toddlers. That, or give an increased salary cap if Adelaide is so hard for people to live in. Sydney gets a cap raise for cost of living - why not Adelaide since we're apparently not the place to be.

Can I ask one simple question;
Why are we even remotely entertaining White as an option?
Apart from the obvious that he is not very good, we don't need him!
Jenkins and McKernan offer the same position. If neither work as a forward, we have Johnstone and Lynch that could fill a spot in the forward line. I know you may ask 'what about the back up ruck?', but there is no way White is a better option than Jenkins or McKernan in that either.
It feels like we have accepted we are going to get reamed and are trying to figure out a way to have something we can 'spin' to our supporters as though it is a positive.
You know, "we are thrilled to have Jesse White on out list. He is a terrific competitor and provides greater depth in both the Key Forward post and ruck positions. This together with a first round pick make it a win for us"
Of course what has really happened is that we have gained a list clogger and a crap pick.
I have never written to the club, but I can tell you if we accept this tripe, I will be sending an email a week for the next 12 months!

very difficult to apply best practices when

1. Kurt, his Msnager and Sydney have manufactured a monopoly environment
2. When one party refuses to negotiate in good faith

I should probably just add. I see no point at all in us taking Jesse White. At the risk of him making a fool of me at some stage this year I see him as nothing more than a list clogger. If we have a spare spot on our list, Id rather they talk Dogga out of retiring.

I'm really curious as to what role they even have earmarked for him? Sounds like he would be behind both smack and jenkins, who are no stars. KPD maybe?? Same height roughly as Jenkins there is no ruck advantage for him. Seems really odd that we would even consider a guy that fills no needs and was going to be delisted.

Key point here as been mentioned is not how much we are helping Swans and giving them a laugh at us but on top of taking pick 23 for $1 mill paid for player where Pies get 17 for 400 K player etc etc.
But no we are going to take off their list a player under contract who want to delist BUT there is more - now they have more money for $urt as dont have to pay last year of contract.
Merry Christmas --- Happy Birthday Swans

But worse of course the whole AFL know now how easy to get a Crows player .
Crows players know how easy to move on .
Sydney not only won premiership but won at trade period and are stronger.
Crows fell short even with help of good draw showing areas need to add to but gone backwards losing highest paid player and got last weeks bread

This "make us a laughing stock" line is all bullshit

The majority of other clubs are well in the know that Syd hold all the aces

The only way the AFC could have got a better result was to trade Kurt last year however it was Sando's call to keep him as he wanted to back himself, the nrw environment and a new team on the rise to keep Kurt

If anything this has been avlesson for Sando

We need an answer for this question:

WHO IS PAYING THE FINAL YEAR OF WHITE'S SYDNEY CONTRACT?

If its us, we have just freed up cap space for Sydney so they can fit Kurt in. Surely we couldnt agree to that?

Do we know for sure it was Sando who wanted to keep him? If yes, then he got off to a bloody bad start! 2012 redeemed him, though.

Can I also just ask for a bit of calm until the trade actually happens... too much anti-club vitriol at the moment. I'll be the first to slag off the AFC if what we look like getting, we ACTUALLY get.

Surely Swans will be paying White's salary or the bulk of it, otherwise there is no way we'd be entertaining recruiting this guy. $300,000 for a list-clogger... I mean come on! cue... Richard Tambling's name...

If the deal eventuates. From a Sydney perspective, the least we should do is pay the majority if not all of his contract.

No it is not bullshit. We are soft when it comes to trading, this just highlights it. This should have been our approach removing all the emotion out of it, especially seeing as Sydney have backloaded the contract:

Crows: "We understand Kurt has chosen Sydney and we will try to get him there. But it needs to be a fair trade. We really rate Kurt and he was an important member of our team for 5 years. We are open to redrafting him if need be. Whilst this may not be his preferred option, given the bond he has with his team mates here Im sure after the initial disappointment it will be like this episode never happened"

Instead, the Crows reacted like they were supporters and burnt him and weakened our hand.

You would think so wouldnt you, but this needs to be spelt out when the deal is announced.

Had some info this morning from a work colleague. Given his title and reputation he wouldn't make this story up so don't howl me down, you don't have to believe this.
My colleague was on the bus last night and a well groomed gentlement was on the phone talking about $kirt. The person he was talking to was named "Steven" and he mentioned his name a number of times. The gentleman on the phone was giving advice to "Steven" and telling him to hold his ground and if it comes "to it" send him into the draft. Also mention Sydney aren't going to pay him more than $800k per year so dont worry.
We can only assume the bloke giving advice was some sort of legal counsel and he was talking to Triggy.
Sounds like a bit of a stalemate between the 2 clubs which is why we havent heard anything yet.
$kirt way well end up in the draft!!!

I actually dont post much and normally just read what people have to say but seriously this board is becoming embarrassing carrying on like little school kids emailing the club because the crows arent getting the deal you want. Its now not about the player but trying to salvage something from a bad situation so the club can move forward.

FACT: Tippett is leaving the club to Sydney
FACT: They have shit all to offer
FACT: Tippett is a knob

Now its time to leave the clubs employees whom are much more experienced than all the negative supporters on this board to get the best possible outcome for the club. Dont forget we still have another 40 blokes on our list to move the club forward and one player will never be bigger than a club.

Its time to stop complaining and have faith in the club you support!!

Mate I fully respect your view to leave it to our administration.

However some of us prefer to cast a critical eye over how we do business given that, in a few months time we will be asked to dig deep and support the club financially via membership.

The way our club is structured however prevents outside accountability at times like this. The board has only one member representing member interests and 1 vote at the table is clearly tokenism.

I for one would like some transparency on issues such

The agreement to assist tippett
The loss of pick 8 last year
The strategy which was expected to net us a fair deal
Why our ceo is in europe

The issue is we will never know any of the above. Every week in season Sando is scrutinised and asked to explain his actions. Why Dosent the administration?

Out of all the posts you pick mine....

I agree with you that it wont change anything in future tading. This is a rare case and if we are in this position again than there is simply just someting wrong our environment not our trading abilities.

I meant that accepting White will make us the laughing stock within the general public and probably some AFL circles. It just doesn't look good at all.

Rubbish, they could trade for another pick (or be willing to put players that arent valueless on the table).

It is NOT rubbish, it is a simple fact. As it stands, Sydney want to offer their best pick which happens to be pick 22. Now to improve that, they need to be shopping around players that they feel are expendable - to teams that a) have a need for said players and b) have a lower draft pick than them. Put yourself in their shoes - if Adelaide had won the premiership last year, you'd be furious if they wanted to trade out any of our premiership team. So it's a difficult situation for them, and is why this is all taking so long. If it were pick 22 and that was it (or the addition of White as the steak knives) then they would have said that 2 weeks ago and left it at that. Clearly they have been told that isn't acceptable and they need to work something else out - hence the two weeks.
