My greatest fear out of all this is that we WILL end up with a pick around 12/13 and use it pick a rubbish player, while pick 22/23 ends up being the greatest player of all time.

If that happens we will have only ourselves to blame - the player at pick 22 would have been available at our pick as well.

-cue mass hysteria-

Nope, isn't the 5th stage of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder acceptance?

Anger, denial, depression, silence and then acceptance. I've accepted we;re going to get bent over for nothing.

I'll repeat myself, it's all well and good to demand Sydney give us a better deal by trading one of their better players to say GWS but if the player doesn't want to leave then he doesn't. Sydney can't force anyone of value out the door if they don't want to go and why if you were a Sydney top 22 would you want to go?

If we force KT to the PSD then it is possible that Sydney still get him as other clubs with higher picks are unlikely to draft a highly priced four year contract player that doesn't want to play for them AND one that has a history of potentially career ending concussions. Again, ask yourself why is KT leaving us? He was a reluctant signer of a new contract in 2009 after all.

So we make a stand and KT ends up at Sydney anyway and they not us use pick 23 at this years National Draft. It's a risk and cost the AFC may not want to take. That's why we may find ourselves spewing over this deal when it gets announced in the next few days.

So no point calling for Sydney to up their offer, they can't, and you are being simple minded if you think they can. The AFC accept that reality and now have to decide on taking the offer or gambling on the PSD.
What crap. Of course they can increase their offer. They are choosing not to.

And why are a disproportionate amount of these new posters who have signed up in recent days defending Sydney/Tippett here and supporting the view the crows should just roll over...

Robert Walls mentioned in his interview with Mike Sheehan on Fox Footy about six weeks ago that Buckley's management made it very clear that he only wanetd to go to Collingwood, and the deal for him to go to Collingwood after one year at the Bears was solid BEFORE Buckley agreed to go to Queensland.
No doubt about that.. but Chalmers was the one who actually went as far as sending out letters stating that he would refuse to play for anyone who drafted him, other than Collingwood. The AFL stepped in an banned him from going to Collingwood.

Fairly sure that was Brett Chalmers.
Brett Chalmers, Andrew McKay and Robert Pyman were all fined by the VFL for their managers sending letters to clubs asking not to be drafted by them.
Buckley's was a negotiated contractual agreement with Brisbane once drafted.

Vader, I have asked a few questions of you so as to better understand the trade conditions. So I again want to clarify this point. If Tippett goes to the PSD and he nominates a higher wage (to try and deter other clubs from taking him) doesnt that mean that this higher salary that Tippett nominates is what Sydney would have to pay if they get a chance to select him. If this is so then given Sydneys inability to pay the big bucks for the first two years surely by Tippett putting his asking price up actually stops Sydney from picking him.
Vader Replied: That's the way I see it. Mind you, his asking price would still be towards the upper end of the range - probably $700-800k. But given GWS & Carlton are/were both capable of meeting his $1M per year demands, I don't think they'll have any issues paying the lower rate.

So for all of those who are concerned that if Tippett goes to the PSD that he can nominate his own salary to block the other clubs is not as simple as that. Tippett will be forced to nominate a salary that he knows Sydney can afford and we have all stated here that Sydney cant afford too much in the first two years so they have backend the deal. This would make Tippett more affordable to the other interested clubs.

Bit of a difference refuting a rumour about a retirement that is not going to happen, and refuting a rumour about a trade negotiation (or a contract negotiation, or a coaching search, etc) that is still in progress.

No need to refute a rumour that is true. I guess we now know.

Before the arrangement with Brisbane. Maybe he tried to avoid going to Brisbane then Brisbane agreed to a trade after the 1st year.

Really?

You're still clutching at that straw.

Ok then.

What straw? You really need to do something about this petulant streak of yours. I'm not saying it is or isn't going to happen. I'm just saying that even if he isn't going to be here, there is no onus on the Crows to come out and dispel a rumour regarding trade negotiations while they are still in progress! In fact, it would be fairly incompetent of them to do so.

Personally I think there's a very good chance White will end up here, given what we've read so far.

Ok...

Tell me why GWS and Adelaide havent then simply struck a deal for that high draft pick?
This is the whole point. They need to be exploring this option. It won't be easy and they have2 options:

1- get $Kurt to agree - unlikely in coming days
2- Veale deal him if GWS genuinely want him - KT loses control of his destiny

Either way do not lose respect for ourself and accept massive unders for him - would be shameful. You can see what sort of disillusion it would cause when genuine long time respected posters like Stiffy, STO and Rave Slave would question things come membership renewal time.

Vader, can you put the kybosh on this hypothetical. tipp nominates 4 year contract totalling $4m. i understand that this is how it works. for sydney (as reported) to fit that in they will pay about $800k for the 1st couple of years and the balance in the last 2. now, i know we have said that we wouldn't re-draft him. but if we did, would we be able to pay him $200k in the 1st 3 years and then $3.4m in the final year. i know it won't happen, but i would have thought that would be a pretty reasonable sized stick to carry into the negotiations with kuntly.

I have a busted ankle yet still can be bothered reading all this crap about Jesse white.

Ill do the other ankle to make sure this doesnt happen.

What sort of ****ing club will this shit make us. No one can honestly say that if sent to the PSD that Carlton or GWS will/wont take this w***er. We threatened it, we need to follow through like a tough parent would.

I may have missed it, but if GWS picks him up, do we get compo from the AFL being that they are picking up an uncontracted player?
