Yep. Many of us argued at the time how ridiculously swiftly the club acted on dumping Rendell. Threw the guy under the bus. So far, nothing has come out that doesn't support that. Stand up for your ******* employees! So ******* what how much we were pressured. There were always other options than "FIRE IMMEDIATELY."
Christ that still shits me. Can't believe he's with Collingwood.

The problem I have with Rendell at Collingwood (mid year) is the intellectual property that he took with him.

I have no doubt in my mind he knew he was leaving before heading up to Queensland to make an unemotional decision, and was only doing so because dealing with the ensuing fall out would be far easier for him than being here in Adelaide, where he'd have to front his teammates, the club, and the press.

We all obviously hate Davi$ now, but at least he showed some balls.
Personally i dont hate davis, i hate the AFL for wanting to expand to grow their brand and that resulting in a situation where a 20yo whod played a handful of games was offered ridiculous money.

You cant know all of KTs motivations because you arent KT. he still owns a house in Adelaide doesnt he? he'll have to go back at some point. im not defending him at this point, but im not ready to jump on the 'you dog tippett' bandwagon either

Kurt's management have driven him up this path. Nothing else makes sense but it's not the end of the world. We have money to throw around so I'm guessing now that this is out in the open our recruiting team can forge ahead and I'm sure they have this all planned and ready to go.

I wonder if Goddard is kicking himself that he didn't wait a little while to see what would have happened with us. Poor effort by his management.

Matt Crouch is only available this year through the Mini-Draft. If we got a spot in that, we should be going for Jack Martin. Try and lure Crouch to come play with his brother in a couple of years time. ;)

That said, if we have any chance of getting Toumpas, we should grab it and run.

Not sure if I am alone here but I would be dead set keen to see Walker and Fev, he would be free, he would allow us a few years while we groom Jenkins/Johnstone properly..He would be a potent mix with Tex... Wouldn't really feel like we lose too much with Tippett either as a big strong marking body would come in.. It will never happen but I can dream..

Looking...looking....looking.....can't see anyone -

Yep. your'e alone!

They front loaded the contracts for one thing..
Then each year, their salary cap decreases over a 5 year period until it's at the same level as other clubs..
They also don't want to chew up too much as they need to keep the young talent..

They will lose more youngsters regardless, and Tippett is a star (+ local product, marketing gold mine) who wants to play for them. Makes no sense to hold out for this reason alone.

Carlton would be up to their eyeballs in this. They NEED Tippett.
Tippett for Waite?

Tippett for Kreuzer/Warnock/Hampson?

I'm sure they'd try these duds first. And their first + second rounder.

Sorry, but I am not sad to see him go. I see his departure as a god send.

Let’s face some facts. Tippo is not a better player than: Danger, Walker, Sloane, Thommo, Jacobs or Talia. He never will be. He shouldn't be getting more money than any of these guys. Honourable mentions go to Brent Reilly and the Truck.

The man is probably one concussion away from retirement.

Tippo wasn’t pulling his weight statistically and visually his skill development was not progressing. Sure he could mark really well, but he was a shit kick. He was always getting too close to the man on the mark and had a terrible ball drop. He was near useless against a quality defender and his ability to read the play was average - at best.

Tippet was paid a truckload of money for ‘potential’ that has never really eventuated.

Well screw that. These sorts of thing can cause dissent amongst the playing group and dissent is like a cancer that can eat away at moral.

Our club does not need this form of destructive influence. Let someone else pay for him for that ‘potential’.

If we play it smart we can use the money we save to balance our team into something even more formidable. We are in need of another good defender or two, a good winger and a good crumbing forward. For 800k we can surely find a few willing candidates.

I can only hope that there is a some shred of decency left in him to ensure that he at least goes to a club that won't completely screw the Crows and that we will get more than a half eaten pasty for his loss.

He'll probably do one better and get us a Balfours pie instead.

Look I hope you get a fair deal for Tippett, but I would burn down the club if they gave up the No2 pick, he is a handy footballer but no star (read back through the comments on this thread) plus
  • Big head knocks
  • Average shot at goal
  • struggles to finish in the top 10 at the B&F
  • And now the money grab and loyalty issue
I can't see us selling the farm to get him, plus if he wants $800,000 he can look somewhere else.

AFGM has been correct to date and my contact has always stated Gorringe and Flanigan in exchange for Tippett. Personally if he is all about the money I don't want him at my club.

I think this is mostly fair enough - but I still hold that you'll need Gorringe and the Caddy compo to get it done.

I personally don't begrudge Davis either, but it seems to be the general consensus around here is that he's hated. If I'd had the injuries he'd had by age 20, and someone offered me a guaranteed $700-800k a year for 4 years, I'd take it too.

On the Kurt front, It all seems a little convenient though, doesn't it? He could have quite easily gone home for the weekend, made his choice, then come back and told the club, but he didn't, and instead chose to remain away from the shit storm he no doubt knew his decision would create, and inform his "friends for life", that he won't be playing with them next season via text message/e-mail. Not only did he not actually need to face them this way, he didn't even need to speak to them.
