No he doesn't become like Davis and Bock, because he was offered huge money from us, they weren't. He is a conniving selfish shithead who claimed he was homesick until someone was prepared to buy him out.
 
I know his name gets thrown around on our board all the time but I cannot see Grundy being traded. The coaching staff have a much higher opinion of him than our posters (including myself) do. It is also hard to see one of the premiership players wanting to leave, but stranger things have happened. The only player outside of that 22 that would be untouchable is Rohan.

thats the issue you have to offer something good to get kurt and i cant see what you will offer....

All good and well, but my guess is Tippett would be in your starting 22. I think at the very least you have to give a starting 22 player to get a starting 22 player. Probably a good start to check your premiership team and which would be offloaded if in fact Sydney does get nominated.

As much as any AFC supporter may hate it, Tippett is in every single club around Australia's starting 18 in their forward line...naturally you would suspect something of that ilk would need to be offered.

I'm not denying one might be traded, but jeez it is pretty harsh on whoever gets tapped on the shoulder. After going through that sort of effort for 12 months to win a premiership suddenly the club asking you to leave? Not sure what that does for the player group's mindset either. As I said stranger things have happened
 
The other point is Tippett strengthens a main rival for the next few flags, we can't allow it. He can't get there unless we trade him and I would refuse to talk to Sydney.

If by strengthen you mean increases medical costs for, then I agree.
 
I know someone who knows Heath Grundys family and I can tell you he definately won't be coming to Adelaide. He dislikes the crows and the power for not drafting him originally, he loves living in Sydney and is very settled there. The family member said it definately won't happen.

Now, the key forward's indecision on his club of choice is blocking the Crows' plans.
"It's frustrating," Adelaide list manager David Noble said yesterday. "But we have been advised we will know his preference well before the trade period starts."
Tippett's manager, Peter Blucher, who is based in Brisbane, yesterday politely said: "Nothing to say."

I've been following this thread with great interest, and my independent objective opinion is that AFGM scores the points hands down.

My only question concerns the gentleman's agreement specifying the trade compensation:

"There was a "Gentleman's Agreement" at the end of 2009 that if Kurt extended his current one year contract to a three year contract then Adelaide would trade him to the Gold Coast Suns at the end of 2012 if Kurt wanted to go home. The compensation for the trade would be comparable to the compensation for losing a player to Gold Coast at the end of 2010. No, it wasn't written in the contract, but the agreement was well known to Kurt and his management, the AFC and the GCS.
...... "arrangement" may have included a third party. Now such an agreement may not hold up in a court of law but reneging on the deal has enormous ramifications for future trading with not only the Gold Coast but all other clubs"

Reading between the lines of the comments made by various parties, it seems that such a gentleman's agreement existed, and i can understand (as per AFGM) that the Crows would see the trade compensation to be along the lines of a mid round 1 pick plus end of round 1 whereas GC could argue only a mid to late first round pick.
I can accept that Tippett signed with GC last year under the loophole and that there was a gentleman's agreement previously in existence between i presume Tippett & the AFC re the compensation payable. What i cannot yet understand , however, is that since that gentleman's agreement is probably legally non-binding and depends on the good faith of both parties, then what are those "enormous ramifications for future trading" if the AFC reneges on it.
Furthermore, is it reneging if the AFC argues that the comparable compensation under the agreement should be defined as a mid-range round 1 pick plus end/late of round 1 pick (or player equivalent)?
To me , that is no more reneging on it than the GC arguing that it should be a mid/late round 1 pick only.
It is all a matter of interpretation.

I would think that the GC itself would recognize that a simple mid/late round 1 pick is insufficient trade compensation for Tippett and for the sake of its future trading with the Crows and other clubs, would do the fair and right thing and trade a mid round 1 pick plus end of round 1 pick (or player equivalents).
IMO this would still be consistent with the terms of the agreement (given that the interpretation of the trade compensation is the sticking point).

That scenario would be in keeping with AFGM's statements, and also i think would satisfy most parties and supporters from both the GC and the Crows.
 
Seriously, what the **** are Sydney gonna come up with? Offer Tippett seven figures per season and give us a pick in the 20s? Give me a ****ing break...

In the absence of a fair trade, I can't think of a better outcome than seeing this prick in the orange and charcoal next year - enjoy the surf in Blacktown beach boy...

Was thinking the same thing. If Sunny, Ivabigun and Supernova are typical of Suns supporters it's given me a much more positive view of the club. Their contributions among our 7,000+ posts (over two threads) has been most welcome.

Just out of interest, did you guys have other AFL clubs before the Suns came in?

but the loss is irrelevant because whaatever they pay players will come out of the compulsory salary cap money whiich is spent regardless subject to the minimum %.
Anyway, its GC.

Haha cheers. I expect it to last 5 mins after I say that I was a Port Adelaide member and supporter since birth :oops: Moved to QLD about 15 years ago, and our family always said we will jump ship if a local team came on board in the AFL...never actually thinking it would! The North Melb potential relocation didn't count, wouldn't have followed them.
Just to put it all in one post, I'll say Sunny is great for our little online community, she really sets the tone. She floats between America and Gold Coast for work and only just came on board a couple years ago when Gold Coast came in! Pretty cool story.
I think Iva used to go for North Melb?

PS hanging around like a bad smell because I see Tippett as the biggest trade for our club probably of the next 10 years.
