I've stayed pretty much out of the trade talk until now - there are enough speculating without me adding to the mix.

What I don't understand though is Sydney posters suggesting fringe players and pick 22 etc... If the reported offer is true, Sydney is making Tippett its highest paid player. Now that doesn't mean he's their best player, but surely it makes him at least top 5 on their list in terms of how highly they value him. How is Luke Parker, #22 on their list judging by the GF team, a fair deal, even in combination with pick 22?

First off he wont be on a mill per year it maybe a million dollar contract but not per year

Secondly johnston is more important then tippett Johnson won us a flag FFS he was outstanding in granny and with our aging backline is well needed there's no point strengthening the forward line if it's going it drastically weaken our back 6 particularly when johnsons the sort of player our so called flingshot counter attack is based around.

I wouldn't be to sure about not paying him $1M, if you've managed to convince him to move to Sydney instead of Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you've clearly offered something fairly substantial. Whilst the Gold Coast are throwing out low ball offers, Brisbane now have Fev money to play with within their salary cap, so you can rest assured their offer isn't exactly small.

so how much is their in the rumour that Reid wants to head home?

could this be driving the interest in Tippet?

I don't think any. My source told me but he stuffed it up as the Reid boys are from the Murry Bushrangers and that is located on the border between NSW and Victoria.

Unless this rumour has gained more legs, it's nothing but false hope as my source lost all creditability with me on that one.

And we aren't giving up Johnson it just ain't happening. What if I throw in a free newspaper to hit Grundy with?

How about Johncock, Jaensch and our second pick for one of your top 5 players? Deal.

That's the equivalent of you offering us Parker and Grundy and pick 22.

Fringe players and a speculative backman doesn't equal a star.

If the Swans hierarchy think Johnston is more important than Tippett then presumably he'll also be on a million dollar a year contract?

Just out of interest how many players at the Swans are better/more important than Tippett...

ha, your arguements are almost as poor as your footy knowledge.

As per usual, the standard BF line at trade time. Your club would OBVIOUSLY be VERY interested if they were to table an ofer to blow the QLD teams out of contention. Should and offer be made in the vicinty of what's being reported, it would seem your club would believe him to be more important than anyone on your team.

Have a cry if you want but the best way to value a players worth to a team is the contract they are willing to provide.

Well, let's be real here for a second. You're not against recruiting him. You're against paying his market value.

If Sydney gain his services, you will be cheering for him. So, please don't say you're against recruiting him.

You can read on our board again and again why I would prefer not to get tippett at his inflated dollar value. I DO NOT WANT tIPPETT DUE TO THE FINANCIAL RAMIFICATIONS IT WILL HAVE ON RE-SIGNING PLAYERS NEXT YEAR. It has absolutely nothing to do with trading it is solely due to our re-signing players next year

You can say this all you like, but once he is on your list - you will support him. We are pissed off with him because he is a GUN player.

You don't want to pay his value, not that you don't want him. Major difference.

That could work and may establish the higher pick that Tippett demands but that still leaves us with a problem Parker at best would get us pick 8-10
Would Grundy plus pick 8 and 22 get the deal done?

Probably, yes. Maybe.

Also, please keep it respectful. Don't come on and tell us we're over a barrel and we'll have to take whatever you guys offer unless you want a week off.

Reality is, if you guys want Tippett, you're going to have to give up quality to get him. Whether that be quality players, or quality picks, or a combination of the two, it'll take quality. So don't balk when people ask for quality players from Sydney.

For a start Tippett is not a star yet, only 39 goals this year suggest so, secondly Parker and Grundy are far better players than Jaensch and Joncock, thirdly if Tippett decides to nominate for the Swans the Crows are not in much of a position to play hardball, its what the Swans offer or nothing.

For Christ's sake, how many times so I have to repeat myself?

DON'T COME IN HERE AND TELL US "YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE WHAT YOU'RE GIVEN AND LIKE IT" UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE INFRACTED.

Wonder if anyone will bother to read it now.

Sigh, you're right. I obviously have no idea what I'm saying and you know my preference in the matter of the swans far better than me.

I don't want to pursue swans usually way of trading in picking undervalued players or rather we go for Tex or Hawkins if they were available.

I can say again why I do not want Tippett at the club but it seems that there's no point reiterating it. Again.

I wonder whether we'd offer to cover part of Kurt's contract so that Brisbane could increase their offer, if they were, as is likely, to offer more on the trade table.

Suggested something similar to this in the "what to do with $800K" thread the other day, but no takers.

I'd go with the strategy that if Tippett didn't nominate only one club as a preference then we'd add $x to any contract he gets. Satisfies his sudden requirement for more $$$ and gives us the opportunity to get the best possible deal for him.

Tom Scully is managed by Velocity Sports, initially by Peter Blucher, does any of the from quotes from early 2011 sound familiar?

In the statement, Kleiman said Scully's management company Velocity Sports had not had any discussions with GWS in relation to the silky left-footer whose two-year contract expires at the end of the season.
Tom Scully is managed by velocity Sports, Kleiman added the 19-year-old had put off all contract talks until the end of the 2011 season and enjoys an excellent relationship with the Demons.
"To ensure there are no distractions and that Tom can direct all his energies to the 2011 season, we recommended to him last August that we put contract talks on hold until the end of the season and advised the club accordingly," Kleiman said.

Even if Tipp nominates Sydney, based on what trigg has said we will deal with anyone who wants him.
Expect that if Sydney play hard ball we will go into mediation after the 1st week and we will be saying Bris are offering 8 + Polec (or similar)
Make no mistake the club is pissed off with how we have been treated during this and no-one will recieve any favours.

Then maybe you need to stick to that ****ing stupid sport of Thugbe as you know **** all about AFL.

Say what you like about Tippett, he's not undervalued. He is a massive gain for whoever gets him. Even if you can not see that.
