"It would have been easy to accept a generous five-year offer to stay in Adelaide, or something similar from the Gold Coast or Brisbane, and I also want to thank those clubs for their interest," Tippett said.

Seems to indicate the Swans are getting him for less money than what has been offered by GC and the Lions. This would mean the 1 million price tag being reported is rubbish which would make sense. Can any Crows supporters shed any light on whether he was the outer or unhappy? He always seems wanted from coaches and players yet his choice reflects otherwise?
I don't think you can believe anything this bloke says. One minute he wants to go home, next minute he loves everything about Sydney. He's full of BS!

KURT Tippett has nominated the Sydney Swans as his preferred football home in 2013.

In a media release on Saturday morning, Tippett said the renowned culture at the Swans proved the winning point.

Tippett has agreed to a conditional four -year deal with the Swans.

"It would have been easy to accept a generous five-year offer to stay in Adelaide, or something similar from the Gold Coast or Brisbane, and I also want to thank those clubs for their interest," Tippett said.

"But this was a combined football/lifestyle decision and the balance between the two. I was born in Sydney, I have a lot of friends and family there, and this offers me a chance to play football in a lifestyle which I really enjoy.

"Watching the AFL grand final last Saturday, listening to the commentary and talking to various people over time, it is obvious the Swans have a very special culture, in addition to a very good team.

"I look forward to being part of it, and playing a role in a team that can be in the premiership mix next year and beyond."

Tippett is understood to be about to depart for an overseas holiday.

Kurt doesn't understand that culture is something you have contribute to as opposed to take from.

I'd conclude exactly the opposite. If he's happy with 4 years from Sydney compared to 5 at Adelaide, Gold Coast or Brisbane, that makes it more likely he's weighed up that 4 years at a million/year is better than 5 at 800k per year.

It means he can be homesick all over again when he's 29, too.

However, I'm not sure why people are so upset about Sydney being the nominated club. Obviously the strongest position for us would be if he didn't nominate anyone, but given that he was going to nominate a club Sydney is a very good choice for us because there is no way they will get him if they don't give us something worthwhile. There are plenty of other clubs willing to pounce on him, and with Sydney finishing on top every other club in the league will have a run at him before they will. I also don't understand why people think Sydney don't have any players worth trading - they've got a tonne of good players. Parker, who has been ridden in this thread, would be a great get. And with the money they're spending on Tippett it wouldn't be too hard to imagine they have some very good players on relatively little money that we might be able to entice over.

'Good' players arent enough. We need the chance to get stars in return for losing a star. Thats either stars in a trade directly or top level picks. Sydney arent in a position to give us any either through the draft or player trade.

Show me where he said that?

I'm assuming it implies that he's turning down more money if he comes to us. Also goes on to mention they've agreed on a conditional four year contract.

bollocks dont come onto this board talking crap...I live and breathe the crows mate and not once in the 6 years that whore has been with us has there been any type of unhappiness with the club...his issue is living in adelaide because he wants to live somewhere more exciting for the lifestyle he wants...don't talk crap
Funny that the Sydney board said the same thing about you. You are the true definition of a keyboard hero. Live and breathe the crows? Sounds like you need to get a life mate.

Jetta would fill the Crows' need for a fast outside mid much better than Pearce.

Kennedy would be a good pick - up.

Not sure who else.
I can guarantee neither of those 2 will happen in any configuration ......theyre too important to the Sydney supporter connection which is more critical than in any other state

It'll be an up & coming star that we chase that hasn't connect truly yet with the Sydney public

I think that is one point we would all agree on. I really wish he nominated another club. I think he is a good player, a poor person and far too expensive.

If he is in the psd, for a club to pick him, they would have to have $800k to $1m . He fills out a form which nominates what is to be paid. How many clubs have a mil up the sleeve come psd? GWS can't even fit Giles in their cap.

So how much were you guys offering? IF he says we're offering less I'm wondering by how much.
We offered a five year deal you offered a four year deal. Pretty sure your deal was higher per year. Brisbane have said they couldn't match your offer and they where looking to offer similar to ours.

That would be a dud deal IMO.

Rohan has played 22 games for an average of slightly less than 10 disposals including 1 goal per game, and has a busted ankle.

So basically you are suggesting trading a sound leading KPF being offered close to a million dollars per year for Rohan PLUS a swap of draft picks??

That would be just compounding the way we will be screwed in this deal.
Yep that's what I am suggesting SUBJECT to a full medical

Buy low is the motto ......Rohan's injury run is in our favor ...he's a class act that no-one is denying

Rohan & pick 22 (no other concessions) ....use draft pick & on-trade in conjunction with the extra $700K in our salary cap during trade week

He wouldn't be signing for 4 years at less per year than a 5 year deal.. 5 years guarantees his time in the game, 4 years is quick money and the chance to negotiate another big contract using other clubs to drive up his price before he hits that 30+ 1 year at a time with less interest from other clubs phase.

I agree .....I think Crows will come out in front

1. A 1st round pick that can be on-traded
2. A good Sydney player .....don't think it wont happen, it will
3 $700K spare in cash to hit trade week

Always have said, we'll end up 3 good players for Kurt :thumbsu:

As a Swans fan I agree, 2 or 3 good players > Tippet.

It doesn't seem a good idea for 1 player to get 10% of the TPP.

I didn't realise his output was so underwhelming thus far. Perhaps Rohan and 22 alone.

The reason I'm keen on him is that I reckon he's exactly the type of player we need. Quick, outside, goal kicking mid with X factor. I watched him a few times in the u/18 champs and loved what I saw.

I'm not going to sit here and say "Jetta or GTFO" because its pointless. We need to identify realistic targets who Sydney may not want to lose, but who are not necessarily untouchable. They won't want to give up Rohan, but they won the flag without him so you'd have to think he's an option.

All of this hinges of course on a thorough medical and physical testing. It goes without saying that I wouldn't want him if he hasn't made a full recovery. So don't use his ankle as rebuttal, because if its no good I don't want him.

No, he was just acknowledging that "those clubs" gave him generous offers. Just not generous enough.

Love how we lumped in as one of "those clubs"...Moo
He is something else...

Through the draft, no.

Through a player trade? Of course they are, they're got some excellent players. The question is, how much do they want Tippett? If they're not willing to give up something of substance, they are unlikely to get him because there are a bunch of other clubs who would gladly spend a nothing PSD pick on the guy. Even if he only plays for a year and then leaves, they've just picked up a huge bargaining chip for free (other than the salary of course).

Unless we just roll over and take whatever we're given of course, but I'm hoping against hope that that doesn't happen.
