Seriously, this is what I'd be testing out if I were Noble. Give GWS a guarantee that we will not trade him anywhere and send him to the PSD, and even swap our first pick for a pick in the mini-draft. Kurt still get's to go to his apparent home town of Sydney, and we get something decent in return.

This is what I want as well. It would prevent the current premiers getting even stronger next year, which would increase our chance of winning it ourselves. If the compensation is better, or Tippett doesn't get to go where he wants, they're both bonuses.

quick question to the posters who are all over draft picks.

pick 22, with all free agency picks and the like floating around would pick 22 be pick 22 or could that pick slide out a lot further ?

They also would be aware that getting a deal done with us will be hard so again they must have thought about this before going to the trouble of signing him so I think they must have a high profile player leaving that they know is going to free up picks and cap space, I mean why would anyone that has a premiership team be doing all this otherwise.

Kennedy?

Sure Hawthorn let him go, but only after Sydney did their usual sneaky tricks. I don't get the impression it was a spiteful split.

Maybe Kennedy has the romanticism of being a prodigal son, now favoured, returning to the club of his forefathers. Just as much chance of another premiership, probably more.

A couple of points that I think are relevent.

1. Sydney approached Kurt during concussion period and then visited him a couple of days after a flag and offer him a huge deal. This suggests to me that they have a very good reason to want him so badly. You don't know that Tips manager didn't sell Sydney on the gentlemens agreement and told them "offer up 22 and a fringe and they'll have to take it, they promised".

Talk on the D & T board of Dawes to Demons for pick 13. Surely that means Tippett is worth a top 8 pick at least!
if dawes is pick 13, tippet is pick 1 :D
Wish tippet would've nominated MFC, we would of gotten pic 3.

True but they would still have to have a very good reason to go after a key forward/ruck so aggresively and I personally can't imagine that Sydney would just blindly base their whole strategy on a verbal agreement 3 years ago from a bloke who is no longer with the club and promised by a manger who is trying to sell his client. No one in any form of business offers $4 million for anything without doing some due diligence.

I know Walsh or Lamb would be considered steak knives....just making sure that no-one is under the misunderstanding that they are spuds :-) They are each worth pick 20-30 on the open market right now.

Then what do you rate tippet as? He has clearly out preformed both players and is being offered a mil by your club. If lamb and Walsh = late first rounder early second rounder
Tippet must = 2 early first rounders at the minimum.

Also what would Grundy be worth on the open market?

Players who nominate for the PSD may nominate their pay requirements, and a club that selects them is then obliged to meet those requirements.

Presumably Tippett/Blucher would put in the amount they know Sydney is willing to pay (IF Sydney's players revolt hasn't killed the move to Sydney by then)
Presumably the price they would attach to Tippett's nomination would be low enough to ensure he ends up at GC, noting that there's only the remotest of chances that he'd still be available at Sydney's PSD selection. I'm willing to bet that GC remains his fall-back position.

Well liked. Nothing out of the ordinary afaik. Tex looked up to him and they got along very well. Others might know more on this than me (probably)

And even after it all went down, tex still implored fans not to be too hard on him. I think there'll be a few players that are pissed at him. Not all. But a few.

2. All the Tippett and his manager and Sydney hate on here is way over the top at the moment as we haven't seen what we end up with. I mean how can we blame a manager for getting his client $900,000 plus, that's his job after all and don't forget Tippett passed up huge money to stay with us 3 years ago so he obviously has some loyalty but he is 1 concussion away from retirement now and he gets offered $4 million over 4 years, can't totally blame him. Lets wait until we see what happens in trade week before we get too upset, we might come out of it really well.

I believe that this comment supports my theory. Sydney want Tippett Bigtime (a million dollars makes the same statement). They will not want to lose him. They would have known all along they will have to pay for him. I think their desire to have Tippett will protect us.

Wasnt this after the Hewitt/Edwards issue, McLeod offered to go to Brisbane?

Pretty sure Mcleod was on the brink of heading to Brisbane at the end of 1998 but was talked out of it.

if Tippett puts a price on his head, anyone can still select him and offer him what they like.
every side has the right to draft any player that has nbominated for the draft.

the key is, whether Kurt then decides to play for what he is offered by the club that selects him, or chooses to sit out the year.
100% wrong. If Tippett nominates a salary when he nominates for the PSD, then any club which drafts him must pay at least that amount. They cannot draft him and then offer him a low-ball offer, forcing him to sit out if he doesn't accept it. The salary he lists on his PSD nomination form is the minimum they can offer him.

Josh Bootsma, Mitchell Wallis, Gerrick Weedon, Jackson Trengove, Scott Selwood, Albert Proud, Beau Muston, Jesse Wells, Cam Thurley, Matthew Ferguson, Mark Seaby
All at pick 22.
Scott Selwood looks the goods. Wallis and Trengove are best 22. The rest awere spuds, or still too early to call. Any of these worth $1mill a year? Pick 22 does not interest me in the slightest.
Kurt was pick 32...... :\

Would be ok pick up, not suggesting as a swap for tippett but as the extra
Would not be an OK pickup at any price. My guess is that Sydney will be delisting him as surplus to needs (not to mention being well below AFL standard as a player).

We are not bound. We owe him nothing. His manager will have no impact on Phil and David. We will do what's best for the AFC which will be pick22 plus a player of some description whether it be from Sydney or elsewhere. No angst required.

Unfortunately Kurt your life style is in the AFC hands.......sucked innnnnnnnnnnnnn.
