Does anyone realistically think Adelaide will end up with a pick early enough to be able to pick Toumpas? Basically need to get 4, 5, or 6 (ahead of Ports 7)

nope

Unless we somehow get Melbourne's pick four.

But GWS will get him. SOS was glowing when talking about him on AA last night. They will get him with one of their first three picks.

Has GHS said he wants to come home?

Is he the Adelaide Bigfooty boards shiny new toy of this trade period?
The Christian Howard of last year?

I am trying to work out why Geelong who are trying to recruit young mids are willing to give up a 'Nathan Buckley clone'?
And if he is so bloody good why did 1st year player Murdoch play more games?

All perfectly legitimate questions..

I stole the 'shiny new toy' line from you Vader..

The post was so Vaderesque that I thought you stole the whole damn thing from another thread or something! :p

But agreed...just another talented SA lad who in all likelihood wants us less than we want him, and so it will be until we actually hear something.

Some basic research will answer why it appears we are chasing him and why there is a bit of excitement about it.

It is however a good question as to whether he wants to come home. Cats will not want to lose him I can assure you of that, it willneed to be his call. I floated this on cats board and one poster bit with info that GHS leaving was a possibility.

Unlike a number of pea hearted we recruited, he is known as a person of strong character and as faith alluded to, will be wrestling with the thought of leaving.

Far from a done deal I would say but its clear we are into him.

I have a feeling we will deal with GWS to upgrade a pick we get for Tippett along with Luke Thompson to get pick 3 and Toumpas.

Can anyone confirm anything from Sydney end?

Are they actually working on anything yet?

I get the impression they are still holding out for a White and pick 22 deal getting accepted.

Any realistic rumours of any Sydney players looking at Melbourne or Adelaide clubs

From Jenn's article;

The Tippett Free Agency
Kirk Tippett has played six seasons at Adelaide - two short of free agency. But the defecting Queenslander is behaving like a "free agent".
He has picked his club, Sydney Swans, forcing rivals out of the market.
He expects the Crows to trade him to the Swans, or he will walk to Sydney by nominating his $1 million salary on his draft form. Sounds like free agency by stealth.
It's a very valid point - if the AFL want Free Agency to work, then they basically need to tell Tippett and Sydney that they need to pull their heads in, and make US and offer WE can't refuse - not try and hold us over a cliff.

I rate them on draft position initially - how else are they supposed to be rated? Once they start putting runs on the board then I judge them on performances alone, but GHS doesn't have any runs on the board at this stage. Nobody would be stupid enough to rate any of the Morton brothers ahead of Sloane. To suggest that I would is almost a strawman worthy of a yellow card. Frankly, it's insulting.

But seriously, why do people rate GHS so highly, given that he doesn't have the runs on the board to justify rating him higher than his original draft position? He's only played 3 senior games, which is less than Murdoch (a direct peer at the same club).

Seriously Im at the stage if Sydney wont play ball and offer anything decent then I'm happy to let Tippett go to the PSD and get nothing. We will have to weigh up whether its worth us looking like push overs during trade period or take a stance, much like Port did, and say we will not be pushed around and taken advantage of. Sydney will have to be lucky to get him in the PSD.

208 pages of nothing...

You guys a freaken amazing, 208 pages 208 I think that's bigger than our entire board. :D

Then if you add the 300 odd pages leading up to the decisions, simply means one thing.....

we have no life.

I think we're up to like 10,000 posts on the Tippett will he stay, will he leave.

You obviously didn't watch the VFL Grand Final where he was absolutely outstanding, and not for one minute do I believe the SANFL is as strong as the VFL, the simple fact that ALL Victorian AFL listed players not selected for their AFL team play for their "feeder" team every week is clearly proof of that. I'll have my money on GHS being the better player over Murdoch going forward.....just hope it's in a Crows guernsey. Don't forget he's had 2 years in the Geelong system and it's only the last few years he's solely concentrated on football foregoing a very promising cricket career.
