The problem isn't recruiting players from interstate. The problem is in the character of players we've recruited - somehow we've read it wrong.

we read it wrong with gunston and tippett but look at walker, and danger. i saw danger at a junior footy clinic in the first year he was playing for us and was really impressed with the way he was getting involved and really pleased that a guy like that was in the club. Based on what i've seen tippett appears to be a special breed of two faced snake. Im not surprised tippetts a little bit pleased with himself and has developed an ego far bigger than his goal average because of all the offers he's been getting though.

I think someone said earler at some point they decided to recruit upper crust white collar types, rather than the country lads on the assumption they'd stay out of trouble, but on the flipside people like that tend to have less loyalty and be motivated more by money.

I think that was AFGM, and I think he was on to something. The entitled private school boys seem to be more prone to leaving for money than the down to earth country boys who just love their footy. We need more Walker's, and less Tippett/Davis types.

With that golden fist of his, you bloody bet I can imagine it. He could just punch it from the centre square to Walker, who needs a midfield?

They no doubt needed another ruckman, but I think they probably could have found a suitable backup for less than pick 13. Especially if they believed the draft was a strong one, given they need as much youth as they can get.

I still think that the easier you make it for players to leave the more the players and their managers will look at the club as a halfway house.

This club has created a culture where we continually accommodate the wishes of defecting players and the rival clubs to the detriment of our brand. We can no longer afford to keep hand delivering our players to rival clubs on a silver platter and magically think the problem will just go away.

You only have to look at Mitch Clarke and Ryan O'Keefe as prime examples of how rival clubs handle departing players.

It has some merit as all the media focus is on us and Sydney. At some point in the next few days , when we have the secret deal ready to go, we will be in a position to declare to muppet that we cannot reach an agreement with Sydney so option is deal X to GC or Brisbane or p@ss off into the PSD where you will be playing for GWS, Western Bulldogs, Freo....

I've been thinking how unusual it is for all this time and likely a lot of people involved in this deal for there to have been no leaks... but then it occurred to me that there has been plenty of reports, and they all point to White+23...

I think i might be clinging a little too optimistically to the hope that the deal we get for Tippett HAS to better than White + 23 and there just havent been any leaks...
