Also - all those people bagging Caro for her '2nd round pick' story. Go and apologise.

This is a very fair call. I've been pretty harsh but it appears in this instance she was on the money. It wasn't on the official contract as she indicated, but clearly it was part of the agreement that faciliated Kurt's party signing the contract, so close enough.

And shame on the club for simply letting her wear the criticism she has worn over it.

The clause wasn't in the contract, that's the problem. It was all a side agreement between Kurt's party and the Crows, and would have ceased to have any relevance after he had left.

I was wondering whether the side deal would be void if he was traded or did he have a right to demand it be reinforced at the end of the contract regardless of who he is playing for. Though thinking about it the agreement would've been with Adelaide only, which raises the question you asked again, why wouldn't Adelaide wash their hands off it when they could

I only have one thing to say: WTF.

Kind of suspected something like this tbh... though I was hoping a 'professional' organisation wouldn't be so stupid. Did they honestly think they'd get away with trading our highest paid player for a 2nd round pick? Even if it was to GC the deal would come under intense scrutiny.

Also, Caro was right.

But thats not a commercial deal, everyone has said we are being bent over. She said it even raised eyebrows in the AFL.

You guys could've said it was either that or he went in the PSD and you got nothing.

Looks like the deal was about to be done last Friday but Trigg decided to come back from his European holiday and basically **** everything including your club up.

You might have got a shit deal with pick 23 + White but you wouldn't be facing possible sanctions like you are now.

And for pick 8! It's not as though we were giving him away for peanuts.

Kurt Tippett is worth more than pick 8, but washing our hands of this deal and getting pick 8 in return is worth ten Kurt Tippetts.

the clause could be true.

my god. what more can be thrown at this club? whoever wrote the contract up (if true of course) is beyond stupidity. no one could believe it was possible when it came out, purely because it was too stupid to possibly be true. but it sounds like it is!

lord almighty.

Well tomorrow is going to mighty interesting when people wake up to read this huge development.

Massive couple of days coming up for the Adelaide Football Club. If true, this is the darkest hour in the clubs history.
Jesus christ, relax. If you've been following this thread closely you know we'll probably be talking about getting Toumpas again tomorrow night.

I never thought I'd say this but if heads don't roll for this then I'm genuinely not renewing my membership.

Every single person who knew about this needs to put their hand up and walk.

What a ****ing disgrace.

Quayle seems to be implying the Crows would've been investigated for signing off on a dud deal anyway.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the AFL would have launched an investigation into proceedings if we'd accepted that deal, because every man and their dog knew it was an absurd deal. By the sounds of things we came clean last week because we knew there was no way we were getting out of this without it being exposed.

No he's bang on. If the AFL decides to throw the book at us for this then we could effectively be removed from the draft. Have a look at how well that worked for Carlton.

How did they think this was ever going to be cool with the members?!

"Ok guys, we're very excited to announce that we've secured pick 37 for our KPF!"

Sometimes trying to be Mr Cool is uncool. This is a big deal, no one can deny that.

Can't be true surely. Its unfathomable that we didn't trade him to Brisbane for 8 last year and wash our hands of the evidence if its true. Why would you hold onto a timebomb?

Yes, I've reached the denial stage.

..unless he didn't want to go to Brisbane..what a mess

But that would have voided the agreement if he didn't want to go to Brisbane.

Why Noble? He was an assistant coach at the time wasnt he?

He's been party to the entire thing this year, and was the one who attempted to get the 'suspicious' deal finished, squared and filed before anybody noticed last week.

I'd suggest this has come out now because the AFL was about to launch an investigation, the Crows got a heads up, and decided to beat Blucher and the AFL to the punch.

Got to admit, despite all this shit, this did give me a hard on...

There are potential ramifications for Tippett, too, whose role in this deal will now become heavily scrutinised. At worst, he could be deregistered if he is found to have subverted the rules. At best, his path to Sydney might just have become a whole lot tougher.

The AFL are going to have to make a ruling pretty early tomorrow considering they have had a week to think about it. Trade week cant close with this being unresolved.
