It is honestly geting worse by the hour, Trigg is going to bear the brunt of it considering others in high up positions Chapman, Smart, Harper and Noble have all denied having anything to do with the original 2009 contract, John Reid will be forever tainted for his last act of debauchery and if what's been written is true we probably deserve all of what we're going to get which Isn't going to be pretty.

Reid did what he had to do. He knew it was a bad deal, even when he signed it, but that was what he was ordered to do.

If anyone at Adelaide needs to wear the blame on this one it's Trigg.

So you have gone from stating the Crows instigated the agreement to "who cares".
You may not care but I will bet the AFL care, they will come down hard on the instigators of this agreement.
Can you also point us to a link or quote from the crows saying categorically they are paying or had paid Joel, again stop making this crap up.
I do agree that we should never have agreed/sign any document and any penalty they recieve will be of there own doing, I have no issue there, they were a party to all of this.

I do agree that Tippett's management came up with the deal, but the Crows agreeing to it makes them just as much a party the agreement. This is the problem, it is disingenuous to claim that just because we didnt write the deal that we should somehow shouldn't be punished as harshly for agreeing to it.

Of course the club hasn't publicly advised the public or the AFL about Joel Tippett, hence why the Joel Tippett situation is also apparently the subject of an AFL investigation. Surely if the Joel Tippett thing is just something that i have made up then I can't fathom why is the AFL investigating us into potentially breeching the salary cap.

While it would be nice to collectively put our heads in the sand and tell ourselves that it isnt true, but the investigation into our club will eventually reveal all and on the basis of what has been speculated it doesnt appear too favourable.

Cluching at straws but is it possible the AFC Board didn't know about this?

Chapman made it pretty clear in his interview on 5AA that Trigg came to him 1 hour after arriving back from holidays (and possibly with his tail between his legs and his nuts on a platter IMO) and within 90 minutes they called Vlad at AFL House. I'd bet Chapman blew up, said F**K this, how could we have been so incompetent, we said get the deal done back in 2009, not get the deal done at any cost and then told Trigg that his own job is on the line pending this investigation. Chapman is far too business savy to drop the bomb without actually going through all the proper avenues. More likely to go to the AFL, tell them we've sacked Trigg and any other party that has their name linked to this. We've lost $kurt with no compensation, missed trade week completely this year and surely a suspended sentence is warranted.

Hopefully, this is true.

As has been said, Chapman has a corporate reputation he needs to maintain; being a professional Board Member can be a very lucrative path into semi-retirement for experienced business-people.

I can't see him compromising himself in this manner.

It was fairly widely reported at the time that Adelaide had paid for his move from Qld to Adelaide. I'm not sure that Adelaide have actually paid for him to be playing in SA - just the removal costs & the costs of setting up a new home.

The rumor is that it was Tippetts team that brought in the Lawyers first and threatened possible legal action if the Crows didnt honor the spirit of the arrangement. Somehow the AFL were notified (I've heard GC got involved somehow and possibly tipped the AFL off).

Im also intrested if Sydney knew about the arrangement and were using it their advantage. Judging by the offer they put forward and reluctance to budge, it seems at least a possibility.

If we trade him to Sydney, they have to part with pick 23. If vlad takes pick 20 we are then left with 22. If we PSD him Sydney most likely get him they keep 23 we get our first pick taken from us.
I was all for the PSD for Tippett before all this other shit came out. Now we need to limit damage. Of course if we can trade to another shitter club that's even better. But I believe we need to trade now not PSD

If Vlad takes one of our 1st round picks, he'll take all of them - including those that we've received by way of trading. There is no way on earth he'd strip us of #20, leaving us to use pick #22. Never going to happen.

Its concievable that Sydney thought pick 23 = a Brisbane/ Suns second rounder in value and was thus fair considering the 'arrangement'. The back up negotiating position would have been 'take it or he can go for a second rounder to the Suns/ Lions thanks to your little under the table arrangement that you dont want the AFL to know about'

In a sense, the Swans were being 'fair' by offering unders.

Are football tickets issued to a players family within the salary cap?

Probably. It would come under para 10.3.2 of the Total Player Paments section (AFL Player Rules):

10.3.2 Extent of Player Payments
The Investigations Manager may determine that the value of all or any part of any payment, consideration, advantage or other benefit given or provided to, or applied for the benefit of, a Player or an Associate of a Player by or at the direction of a Club or any Associate of a Club, or pursuant to any contract, agreement, arrangement or understanding between a Club, an Associate of a Club, and a Player or an Associate of a Player, constitutes a Football Payment for the purpose of these Rules.

Tickets issued to family members would constitute "consideration.. or other benefit given or provided to.. an Associate of a Player by or at the direction of a Club".

Same goes for the club paying JT's removal fees.
