If that article is correct, Trigg is royally ****ed. Cyam8.

Probably a good thing, cleanout this shitty administration and start from scratch with some tougher, more honorable men.

I really cant wait untill this is over and i can just watch some footy, every club should be looked at now and tippett should go back to basketball

It has to be a combination of info provided by the Tippett camp and a leak from the AFL.

Caro's whole presentation implies that we made the first approach on the 2nd round draft pick clearance deal, which is illogical in that the only beneficiary is Tippett. That wouldn't be coming from the AFC - just the reverse.

The worrying aspect is the AFL leaks because Caro has been publishing info on further AFL actions against the Crows, before the Crows knew about it.
Yep, exactly someone from the AFL is leaking to Caro what AFC charges are before formally charging AFC.

AFC should be charging the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute! Completely unprofessional by the AFL to letting the media know before the club. AFC have promised not to talk about the allegations til after they meet. AFL should be doing the same - but appear to be more concerned with keeping AFL in the spotlight.

It's not that illogical that we would have made the first approach. I can imagine an emergency meeting between Reid and Trigg where they talked about how Tippett had told them he wants to go back to GC eventually, and how he had expressed concern that his opportunity to go there might dry up if he missed this window.

Then, lightbulb! How about we promise to trade him there. But what if GC refuse to play ball and only offer us a junky player or something? Let's put in a minimum acceptable level. Now, they could well have pick #1 so we can't say their first round pick. So let's go with their second and hope it doesn't come to that.

Certainly it's plausible. I suspect that Camp Tippett suggested it, but it's not impossible to imagine it originating with the Crows.

Bottom line is Tippett was a party to this dodgey deal & was assisted by his dodgey manager Blucher. It takes 2 parties to sign a contract, so Tippett is equally culpable in this. If he didn't understand it, it's not AFC's problem - sue your manager. To blame AFC soley for this doesn't wash.

AFC will wear a penalty, but so should Tippett & his team ... who have acted like the lowest forms of life... topped off by bringing in a high profile lawyer who is a piece of work. Karma bus is coming.

I can only assume that he means that it was detrimental to Kurt's mental health - that he was depressed because he was here.

This would be easy enough to demonstrate with medical reports. I think there has been noise in the media that Tippett has suffered from Depression, so any evidence of having attending therapy, being prescribed prescription medication or a hospital admission could substantiate the claim. However, if none of this happened you would have to be doubtful about the supposed effect on his mental health and how severely depressed he might have been.

he looked depressed to me (seriously). but not half as sad as he will be when he realises how far Skoda Stadium is from the beach

Once again, I would love to know Caro's source - someone @ the AFL, Adelaide or Tippett camp is very loose lipped.
Jaysus. It just keeps coming. What next? Dodgy dealings to get Dangerfield to sign on this year?

We'll find out soon enough if all of these details Caro's got are true, but geeze, the specifics sure make it sound legitimate.

If even half of it is true, then your club's defense is just flabbergasting.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

Not doubtful - it's very common for depressed people not to seek therapy or medication.

But very difficult to prove. I guess if it went to court they'd bringing in an expert psychiatrist who would give his opinion.

I have been trying so hard to remain positive through all of this, wanting to believe that a logical explanation will be put forward next week. I am losing hope.

Agreed.

Has Galbally elaborated what the detriment was? I originally assumed the detriment was Tippett facing possible deregistration, but it sounds as though he's indicating that it was detrimental to Kurt before any of this broke out.

It can't be monetarily, there is no way we paid less than other clubs were offering. He received sponsorship agreements, and unless he was going to go to Collingwood, Geelong or Sydney it can't be in terms of premierships.

I can only assume that he means that it was detrimental to Kurt's mental health - that he was depressed because he was here.

I believe its to do with the fact that kurt was gone, already out the door to gold coast on a much higher off still

Instead of respecting that we threw ourselves on the floor, crying, and sobbing "don't go. Puhhlease!! We'll change, its not you its me, we were so good together, please give us another chance waaaah" etc and then in our pleading we said "wait... We can do this, we can find a way..."

Etc so after being emotionally strong armed to accept our still lower offer, and give us a 3 yr pity f***, he now finds himself caught up in the mess of what we had to do to even get a lower contract to him

All in all, he was better off doing what be said he wanted to do - go to GC

that's the gist of it

It's not that illogical that we would have made the first approach.

I have always assumed that this was the way it happened. There is no reason for Tippett to add a clause that had him staying at a club he did not want to be at.

Starting to feel for the young players entering the AFL , Tippett managed to find both a club and a management firm with unethical people handling his contracts. That is a lot of pressure whether it turns out that Tippett is an ethical person or not.

You're probably right, and it gels with Galbally's comments about Tippett staying to his detriment.

I don't really see how it counts as him being "induced" into signing the contract though. In the end he had a manager there to make decisions for him.

"Kurt, they're making offers but not as appealing as Gold Coast. Also they've offered some bonuses that make their offer more appealing than Gold Coast, but they're illegal."

"Well, I wouldn't do it but seeing as they're so upset and all..."

so it seems that Triggy mislead the board with the initial side deal, and then again with the 2nd letter

Im sure that when we first went to the AFL Chapman would have said 'Steve is there anything else that the Board and I should know about, no my suprises please"...

If true, there is now no return for Triggy

I can't believe he would have signed without his manager/father advising him to do so

Exactly. Tippett senior would have gone over those contracts with a fine tooth comb. Something just isn't right (apart from the obvious).

I wonder what the timing was - did Kurt sign a contract and then we sent the side letters (x2)?

If I was Blucher, I wouldn't sign without the side letter - if Trigg sent him the second one before the contract was signed, it will be very interesting to hear the evidence as to what was/wasn't agreed

that's the gist of it

It's starting to look like KT tried to do the right thing by the club (there is no way KT would have accepted money outside his contract in preference to the same money in it). It's really unfortunate that $ydney came in and made things dificult at the trade table. Otherwise it looks like things would have been much more amicable. Even the AFL let the issue float through until Adelaide could not strike a deal in trade week.
