Its not an office block full of gossipy 50 something ladies. I would think the playing group would know that with 5% improvement they could be holding a premiership next year. If you lose a bunch of draft picks, i'll be putting $100 on the Crows for the flag next year. You'll wanna stick it up everyone and come out swinging.

The club will suffer though, Jenny. And right at the time when things were looking promising. A few hundred pages back I said I was of the opinion that this would have the effect of galvanising the playing group, bonding them in adversity, and probably find its expression in some real determination to show everyone what we're made of.

Now, I'm not so sure. Back then, it was just Tippett being an arse and some stupid gentleman's agreement. Now, it's a full-on scandal that has swallowed the club up. Do you imagine that the players are talking about anything else? Do you think they will be 100% focussed on getting in a good pre-season, or will they be speculating on who knew what and when, wondering whether the CEO or Football Ops manager is going to walk or get the sack, debating amongst themselves whether any of these people should have walked already. There will be rumours doing the rounds and a bunch of different opinions on the rights and wrongs of what has gone on. You might even have a few recent re-signers questioning whether they've done the right thing.

All of that stuff has the power to be at best distracting, possibly destabilising, and at worst poisonous. We'd all better hope 'our admin will sort itself out'. But that's far from certain at this stage.
Spot on, very good summary. But it's worse than that, we will miss the opportunity to bring in some good young talent, who knows how good they could have been. Theres also the issue whether sponsors and benefactors of the club will be so generous going forward.

Jenny really surprised you think they've done nothing to our club.

i dont think we'll see short term pain, i think its gonna be long term.... we wont notice the absence of early picks for a few years. then we'll struggle.
positive is that we have an awesome squad right now.

They've done nothing to OUR CLUB. What they have done is to possibly/probably destroy their own futures - either at our Club or any other. Adelaide Football Club will come out of this ok. We will recover. We have a strong squad even without Tippett. We have a Coach the players love playing for. Our admin will sort itself out and we will move forward.

Jenny they have done plenty of damage to our club
1. our profit will take a hit due to the payment of fines, legal fees and PR consultancy which may have a knock on affect to our football dept spending
2. we may lose sponsorship revenue opportunity
3. obviously our capacity to build our list through the draft will be massively compromised

Yes the bricks and water will remain and some faces will change however to say "They've done nothing to OUR CLUB" is a little off the mark

What's more gossipy, a bunch of ladies or a bunch of young blokes? Debatable I reckon.

Exactly!

We are going to have to be very smart in our recruiting/trading to maintain our list over the next few years (assuming sanctions), which fortunately at present is very healthy.

If that article is correct, Trigg is royally screwed. Cyam8.

Probably a good thing, cleanout this shitty administration and start from scratch with some tougher, more honorable men.

It would be bloody disappointing if true because I always saw the AFC as professional and ethical. If these news reports are true, I agree, the whole management needs cleaning out. Sadly, it's looking probable now but I will still wait for the commission hearing before putting a stamp on it.

Yeah ok, my view is different but I appreciate how some of you can see otherwise. I guess I wasn't thinking long term.

Or, John Reid ****s up and after Triggy finds out, tells him to UNDO what he did. Possible?
That's essentially the same point Jen.

Telling him to 'undo it' is effectively the same as 'covering it up'. Esp since he didn't tell the board and appears to have been sitting on this for years.
And I don't quite believe Reid went to those lengths without some indication from the boss. Putting it in writing was his biggest mistake...

For me I'm struggling to understand how Trigg couldn't have been involved given he hasn't come forward about it previously.

The biggest issue for me is that we bent over to keep him when he didn't want to be here.. and then on top of that some at the club were arrogant enough to think it wasn't going to cost us longer term.

So Rowey is saying that word out of Melbourne is that Kurt won't receive any sanctions AT ALL.
1. Rowey is often wrong with his goss.
2. Rowey is basing this on Caro.
3. Caro doesn't know what the AFL are going to do to Tippett, but has been getting info from the Tippet camp.

Wait til next week to see what the sanctions will be. The AFL may have leaked the charges, but I doubt they would have leaked the sanctions, given I doubt they would have decided them yet.

Jenny there is also short term pain

the financial cost impact of the pending fine, cost of QC Lawyers, cost of PR consultancy services not to mention potential loss of sponsorship revenue may force footy department spending cuts

fewer development coaches, conditioning staff etc will compromise the development of a young list

I also think we need to stop lying to ourselves and face some hard truths

- its not enough to pretend every club is just as bad. We don't know that, they didn't get caught, and most of all it changes nothing for us

- yes what we did was that bad. We did bad things and actively conspired over a long time to cover it up

hopefully we get an entirely new admin team, and maybe some change on our 3 blind mice board too

I have this little guy on my shoulder telling me not to post this, just keep it to yourself, mark my words no good will come of it.....I know posters will jump all over me but here goes.

Over the last 6 years we saw Tippett as a gift to fill the post Modra void. We became obsessed with keeping him and we 'sold our souls' to stop GWS et al from getting him - yet in the meanwhile Brock and Phil ? were whisked away from us. So we were a little misplaced in our efforts here because all the while Tippett wanted to go 'home'. We promised him a smooth exit and succeeded in having him stay by filling his palm up with lovely bank notes etc. We probably spoke to him appealing to his sense of loyalty coupled with the opportunity of a forseeable grand final window. Time passed and he still wanted out. But we had painted ourselves into a corner. OK he switched the 'go home' proviso for Sydney, premiership team, good money, good lifestyle and we must accept he was always going. But we are the ones who sold our souls, by offering more and more, and its a moot point as to whether he held us to ransom over those years? Guess there is an argument for that, but delusion and misdirected anger aside, we basically have inflicted the whole sorry mess upon ourselves in the desperate attempts to retain a genuine 'rare beast' ("one of only 12 in the world") key forward. I know he has changed his ultimate destination which has made it more difficult for the AFC, but maybe he is not totally the dark villian in the black cloak!

What I am saying here is that while Tippett, father and Bloucher are the objects of our vitriol, most of what has befallen us is of our own doing. We (AFC) were/are the big players in this saga and Tippett was really only a pawn. So how did we go so wrong? Desperation breeds strange behaviour.
