They keep giving us a glimmer of hope.
Maybe only a glimmer Wood Duck, but you know I'll take even a glimmer at this point...

I'm just praying that someone, anyone, laid a paper trail as a butt covering exercise which supports the AFC position...

Well... I can hope... grasp at straws...

Are we still believing that this Tippett Contract Train Wreck is an isolated botched negotiation on our part, and not consistent with the rest of our operations?

yes, until I see evidence to the contrary but it probably won't matter as the CEO must be out of the door

much to your disappointment no doubt

No offence guys, but that email has PR firm written all over it. I'm sure there are facts to argue, but I can't see it being a massive game changer in terms of your "conviction" and penalty. While the offence might not be as bad as other recent cases, the lazy attempts to hide it are probably going to hurt you the most.

the decision by Adelaide to pay the youngster more than club champions Andrew McLeod and Mark Ricciuto in 2010 was a shocker

Being fed by someone from the Tippett camp... Has to be... Language reflects Galbally earlier today...

Well said skooby.

I notice no one is commenting on your post because it does not fit with the theme here.

It's tippets fault, no it's his managers fault or was it his dads.

Everything that happened was in our power to control or change. It was of our doing. We will be able to move forward when we finally stop blaming others. Our situation has nothing to do with Tippett. It is of our making no one else's.

Tippett's situation is of his making and for that he should also face the music.

The two are separate issues.
I've been saying this all along.

Rendell or Bernie Vince.

Bernie missed curfew by 10 minutes once and we suspended him for a week.

Now, this is a billion times worse. So that means Trigg can't hold any role at the club until the year 2012000000
How many tickets did Bernie have to buy after the pants down incident?

Times a billion...

Free life memberships for all!

Tippetts or Galbally will not know much we paid mcleod & ricciuto in 2010

You miss my point. Note the bolded word. I was referring to Galbally referring to Tippett as too young to understand a contract then Wilson using the same subtle language here. It's no coincidence IMO.

Save yourself the trouble

"Unable to go into too much detail..."

"We'll defend ourselves vigorously..."

"We'll accept the AFL's findings..."

"The important thing is that the club and suporters band together and focus on 2013..."
"We'll learn from this..."

I've been saying this all along.
Yes similarly Saucey. I said this was a complete recruitment 101 botch up many many pages ago - and that's where the whole disaster started.

Recruitment 101 says if you have to work overly hard to attract or retain someone - then don't!

We've all got it in for Trigg at the moment, but Caro's article went over the top. This in particular was unnecessary "You could forgive his decision to build what now appears to be a white elephant of a facility at AAMI Stadium and excuse the fact he misread the climate and did not see Adelaide Oval on the horizon." This would've been a board decision + no evidence at this stage to suggest that the new facility is a white elephant. That facility if used cleverly can be a real money spinner for the club. She's definitely coming across as Rucci's Victorian counterpart at the moment. I also heard her on 3AW tonight. She is really going after the AFC... doesn't hold back on Melbourne radio.

Unfortunately I do not believe we will ever find out the full story. The AFC and the Tippett version of events will be very different and I believe that we were the only ones foolish enough to put things in writing.

At the end of 2009 Gold Coast were offering contracts to a select group of players including Tippett. This was not illegal due to the loophole that existed at that time for Gold Coast to sign players a year before their contract expired. We were keen to re-sign Kurt who had one year left on his existing contract. Kurt was in a position to earn around $5.25 million over the next 6 years. This consisted of $250K for the final year of his existing contract with the Crows plus up to 5 X $1 million with the Suns. We would have been happy to offer Kurt a 5 year contract but he thought 3 years was more than enough additional time to spend in Adelaide. The ace up our sleeve was the low payment for the final year of his existing contract. By extending his existing contract to 3 X $750K he would be roughly equivalent for 2010 - 2012. He still needs to earn $3 million over 2013 - 2015 to finish square. This is the reason that Galbally said he was disadvantaged staying at the Crows.

So the negotiating position for Blucher was for the Crows to

1) Ensure he would be no worse off financially signing an extension with the Crows (there is more to come out in this regard). Our offer for another 3 years (2013 -15) would have satisfied this demand but unfortunately the Gold Coast's new offer was less generous than their offer at the end of 2009. This caused Kurt and Blucher to approach Brisbane and Sydney in an attempot to get bigger bucks and the rest is history.

2) Ensure that Kurt could "go home" at the end of 2012 if he didn't want to stay in Adelaide. The broad agreement from the AFC was that they would accept "a comparable trade" to what they would have received if he went to Gold Coast at the end of 2010. Our defence will be that we were not manipulating the draft but merely stating that we would trade Kurt providing we received the value the AFL would have provided for Kurt if he went to Gold Coast at the end of 2010. As outlined earlier this was not as simple as "a second round draft pick" and this should come out next week.

It will be very difficult to prove that "the deal" was suggested by Blucher and the Tippett clan since they were probably smart enough not to put anything in writing but then insisted we confirm the deal to them in writing.

Whilst the outcome of the Reid/Trigg deal was hardly the crime of the century (we never exceeded our salary cap over the last three years, including the Tippett top-up and we were willing to trade Kurt for his end of 2010 value) we broke numerous rules to achieve our outcome. Some of these rules were introduced after the deal was done.

I still stick to my original ascertion 18,000 posts ago, many people in the AFC did not know the full story including the Chairman, the Board and the Coach. Hopefully the full story will be revealed next week.

dont think any of the other players are quite Tippetts "calliber". Yes its our fault but most people are just happy to be playing footy.

Any hope we can slow the commission until after draft day?

Any hope we can slow the commission until after draft day?
"Don't worry, Triggy. I have a fool proof strategy to get you out of here: surprise witnesses, each more surprising than the last. I tell you, the commission won't know what hit them!"

It's arrogant to deny Sydney's south Melbourne bloods heritage.

I eat away at the fabric of our club? you have no idea what i do for this club! And excuse me for defending a friend in his darkest hour. Jesus I must be a shit person.

Youre not a shit person and I admire people who can stand by a friend. Unfortunately it appears that you may be doing so with your eyes closed. I havent asked for Triggs resignation as I am waiting for the outcome but I gotta say things dont look real good for Trigg & Co.

Will your blind support change if Trigg is found guilty of what effectively could cause major damage to the Crows.
