If AFC get hammered with penalties by the AFL, then we must appeal, rather than just gleefully accept what comes our way, which has been our usual practice.

Arent' we negotiating our penalty. It would be odd to appeal our own penalty.
We have offered up the start of our penalty. If we lose too many future draft picks, we should appeal. I'm worried that this is going to be 1-way negotiation, bend over & take it style.

But if they come in harder than expected, I would hope we would appeal. We said we were happy to take punishment that befits the crime, but would fight it if afl give a punishment above and beyond that.

AA the pineapple man..

Two words...pineapple coming
I was once told a story about an old boss who worked where I do before I started who would put a pineapple on a persons desks when they made a mistake. He would then declare that if they made another mistake he would take that pineapple and shove it up their you know what. Guess he thought it was scary or something.

I just cannot believe that we will get pineappled for what we have done. It is no where near as bad as what Carlton did, yet by all reports by the media, we will get at least as bad a punishment as they did. I hope we fight it hammer and tongs if this is what happens. If we do get pineappled, there is IMO a hidden agenda by the afl.

So I was talking to Mrs Magoo yesterday, she has only really become a crows supporter this year, she asks me "Donkey, what's happening with all the Kurt Tippet stuff?", "well love, it's still kind of up in the air, you see it looks like we might of signed a deal with his camp that said we would help get him home to a club of his choice, that counts as messing around with the draft", she said "Why would we do that, isn't it cheating, why would we cheat for Kurt Tippett?" I said um....

Regarding Sydney's salary cap COL........why oh why doesn't the AFL administer that themselves by adding the COL allowance to each contract submitted

Then Sydney can have the same salary cap as everyone else and there's no dispute or grey areas

How hard is that .......simple really

Why does the AFL overlook the obvious so often .....mini draft / uncontracted player allowances
AFL thought they'd be used to get experienced players ......what they didn't think thru that ALWAYS every club will exploit every ruling/policy/concession passed down by the AFL .....what ? it wasn't going to happen with GWS and GC ?

"I just cannot believe that we gave in our first two draft picks as a sign of good-will either" so anythings possible.
By the way, is that you Cornsey?

Neither do I which is why I believe it was a negotiated punishment of sorts. Hope I'm right!

No i can understand that we did ......but if it was a plea bargain, then the basis of a plea bargain is you plead guilty and get a penalty that is known to you

So if we did give up this years picks and admit guilt ....then we already know our penalty, most definitely

Taking into account:
1. We fessed up voluntarily
2. We took a plea bargain
3. We did not breach any rules with dubious intent
4. We never exceeded the salary cap at any stage, allowing for any 3rd party arrangements

Then allowing for all that ...it has to be draft penalty's already served plus a BIG fine

Seriously with all that may be uncovered with 3rd party deals at other clubs (if the AFL are fair dinkum) ......then does the AFL want to compromise its own competition by damaging its member clubs.

If it was just Adelaide ....then OK ....but we know of Melbourne, Carlton should be in the same boat as us over Judd, and i suspect a few other "deals" to be uncovered .....if not by the AFL then possibly the media

Mrs. Allblighty is concerned about the lack of diversity in my reading habits of late.
I wish I had a Mr. Sauce to listen to me talk BigFooty. :p

Geez you're optimistic WW...and I like the way you think, but I dont think we fessed up voluntarily; I think we were blackmailed into it by maybe Sydney.
The chain of events from then just gets shittier and you can suck up to the AFL handing in a couple of draft picks but you still cant polish a turd.
Judd and Adelaide appear to be different kettles of fish...yes they both stink, but they are different.

Agree this is exactly the problem, and why I am hopeful the breaches will be judged to be on the lower end of the scale.

1, Agreeing to trade Tippett for a particular value in the future: never implemented, but we should not have made this secret side-deal outside the AFL official contract. Penalty: loss of Tippett and 2013 draft picks (already done).

2, Agreeing to underwrite Tippett's future commercial earnings if below a certain value. Never implemented, and we will argue that if we did have to implement this we would have declared the payments to the AFL and included them in the TPP for the season in which the payment was made. Penalty: fine (for not notifying the AFL of this underwriting.)

I could be a stupid optimist, but there are plenty of neutral posters over on the AFL Board who also don't think we have done anything seriously wrong. Of course there are lots of numptys who want to cripple us for years too!

Boffo, This is pretty much the way that I see it. Take all the media noise that is surrounding these two indiscretions and thats whats left. As I see it we are guilty of non disclosure on two occasions and nothing more.
