Out of this we have lost a minimum 3 first round draft picks

Money's ok ......least everyone knows where how their membership fees are being used

Having now lost 3 qauality KPP in the last 3 years PLUS 3 first round drat picks ......i think people are seriously underestimating the impact on the club short - med term

Short term we will get away with Free Agency but mid term there will be a huge gap that will impact the club. Port traded away three good years of draft picks in its assault for a premiership and are still hampered by it. Unless people like Siggins and Atkins defy belief and become team regulars we are in for some bad times when are team is all over 27 or under 23

I do agree but as a club we have been able to find gold in the rookie draft {rutten, bock, porps, dogga, wright, pup etc} We just need to be innovative with our selections and find a few more diamonds in the rough. If the recruiters get the selections right we should be able to survive the restrictions

Still bewildered that we're accused of draft tampering ....but Tippett can refuse to meet with clubs or do medicals ...and construct a salary that guarantees him passage to Sydney

Someone tell me how this is not player tampering with the draft process ....please!!!

I would but I can't, and I'm not sure anyone else can either.

Trying to restrict themselves from being tested/challenged under Restraint of Trade laws.

Don't forget FA only works if there's a player, that you're in need of, available .....no guarantees

Everything has to go right now ......we pickup duds and we'll be like Essendon who have recruited woefully over 6 years

I think the others have mis-interpreted the message that you were trying to convey here, as unlike them I didn't read it as a slur on being an Adelaide supporter - rather that you meant that out of this mess, the Adelaide Footy club and its supporters have suffered the greatest losses, and I agree with that.

Firstly we have lost a 202 cm mobile CHF, and they are rare - and lost him for nothing. As supporters we have felt betrayed and spurned by Tippett who always led us to believe that the only reason he would ever leave Adelaide was to go home to his beloved Gold Coast - which we have since found out is a suburb of Sydney in NSW, as Tippett wouldn't lie to his team-mates and supporters, would he. In spite of not having lived there, Tippett then tried to claim that it was home because a) he was born there, and b) he had once done a dump on Bondi Beach in the water without anyone knowing. Strong qualifications indeed.

Further to that he informed his team-mates in a gutless manner and lied to his club saying they would get his answer re staying or going face to face - they got a phone call instead.

Then we had to endure the Tippett camp inspired humiliation of being held to ransom by that "fair trading club" Sydney - who now in my mind are clearly the arseholes of the AFL - offering no more than a 2nd round pick equivalent plus we would have had to take Jesse White (*crosses himself and says 3 Hail Mary's that never happened*.)

Naturally the AFL became suspicious and then came the admissions of cheating.

Then of course, there are the further 4 lost draft picks and the $300k fine, plus the embarrassment that goes with your club being found out to be a cheat, even be it on the lesser scale of cheating.

We have also as supporters lost faith and trust in key operators at the footy club as well, who also have to carry the cheating stigma with them for at least some period of time before it is replaced by something more odious and sensational.

Then you add to that, we also have the chagrin that Tippett not only wants to go to Sydney, he nominates a huge salary and gets to the club of his choice, Sydney, anyhow.

So yes, it is staggering the way that things turned out, and yes, as you can tell by the size of this thread, many of our supporters are gutted and pissed off by the whole outcome.

The only part of your post that I disagree with is about being glad that you don't support our team.

In spite of everything that has happened, I think that as our playing stocks are in such good shape, and are supported by an excellent coaching team, that we Adelaide supporters have plenty of good times to look forward to in 2013.
Amen to that!!! :thumbsu:

There's no requirement for a player to meet or do medicals with a club that's interested in him. Why shouldn't he be able to say what he wants to be paid, no different to any other player negotiating a new contract, he just runs the risk of overpricing himself.

I also don't see how what the AFC did was draft tampering, he was your player & should be able to trade him for what ever you like

agree on both points ....either both AFC & Tippett were right in what they did ...or both wrong

Not one wrong and one right

19th but 700+ posts behind Jenny. Jenny you really wanted Tipstick gone...one post closer to catching Spackler.
James informed me today that because of the Tippett scandal the proposed ressie team for 2013 will be pushed back to 2014. Just another reason to go to the Port v Sydney game next year. Tippett probably won't play anyway, will be looking for his backbone.

This video summarises this entire thread in under 4 minutes......don't agree with the last statement though. Go Crows!

Not only did we lose him for nothing, it really cost us 4 draft picks and 300k!

But at least we didn't get White!! :p
Not ending up with Jesse White almost makes the whole ordeal worthwhile

Like Macca said I was actually being sincere ... I used to really like the Swans but after this whole saga I cannot stand them ... I think that the AFC has gained a lot more support from people that used to not be able to stomach them .... me included.
There will always be the one eyed supporter that takes great joy in seeing another club get whacked but I don't, not after what happened to us ... you guys were lucky that you are top 4 material and so the sanctions will not hurt anywhere near how they hurt us and I have to tip my hat at your recruiting team over the last few years, you have lost some real quality but still have a fantastic team.

The things that I think you as supporters should be concerned with moving forward are that

1) you have lost a gun of a recruiter that built your fantastic list over some trivial BS
2) You will not be able to add fresh talent to your list over the next couple of years unless you are willing to pay through the nose for it through FA
3) There has been no fall out from this at board level which just smells so fishy that I am really surprised that you as supporters have not stormed your head quarters and ripped a new one to the whole board
4) if you are not able to capitalise on your list in the next couple of years then, you probably would have without the sanctions and it will be an extended period between drinks.

Finally I have become very disillusioned by the AFL in this whole saga. The commission has strutted around thinking its sh#t smells of roses and as per usual has treated the true power of the AFL. its supporters, with contempt. Its blind ambition to make the game successful in rugby territory at the expense of its homeland in Vic, WA and SA is so aggravating that it makes you want to switch off on mass to teach them a lesson.

Lucky for those pricks that they control the best game in the world and its too addictive to switch off!

P.S please hang and quarter Tippsh#t if he is ever brave enough to play in Adelaide again. An absolute zero of a human being and the biggest merc the game has ever seen by a country mile.

Not just Sando:

He noted how not many Crows players would "spend much time with him from here on in".
But he said Tippett remained in contact with "a few" of his former team-mates, most notably key forward sidekick Taylor Walker.
"I know he's still in contact with a few of the players but it will be difficult for him being in Sydney and the boys here," Sanderson said.
"Some guys have been affected more than others."

I wonder if he realises Tex's staying in contact is tweeted and calling him stoop and wanting to jump on his head

well said, especially the last paragraph!

But maybe that's all we are privvy to? They were good mates...
I agree Jenny. I doubt that Tipp will lose his good mates over this because blokes get over stuff very easily and carry on. Reality is, Tippo has hurt us more than the players. Most of the players are still in contact with Phil Davis for example and they seem to get on very well. I think that's a good thing. Life's too short for animosity.

The Phil Davis one is completely different.

heard Bernie Vince on MMM earlier in the year and he didn't seem to please with Kurt.

animosity is a bit different to a general dislike - hell I dislike heaps of people I deal with on a daily basis.

How's this thread going? petering out or still going strong? 30k achievable?

I used the following when shit stirring on the Bay, but it also suits/recognises this thread in a fun way too:

Well I suppose any club could still have drafted Tippett so not really tampering........but wait, Sydney had the COL allowance so all clubs didn't have an even chance. The AFL are really the ones draft tampering! Hypocritical ar...........es.
