To All EFC Members wanting to challenge the board to have Sheed's reinstated.....

There's a difference between disliking the boards actions and wanting an EGM. I for one am not impressed with the board at the moment as they don't seem to have much direction or a clear plan for Sheedys succession. However, an EGM would have little result and would destablise the club. I highly doubt more than 50% of members woudl be that short sighted that they didn't realise that. Its all a beat up from Robinson and Smith in the media.

Yeah. I detest change myself and I am nowhere near 50+ but I can handle the decision but think it's time there is a board shakeup. Having said that I am a massive Sheedy fan and any of our so-called fans who disrespect him can **** right off.

I am in my early 30's...Sheedy is the only coach I remember. At the same time I can deal with the change...the thing is, will the change be for the BETTER? All this time will tell stuff is a load of BS. I don't think you should be letting someone with Sheedy's record and reputation go until you're damn sure you can replace him with someone the general majority will perceive to be at least as good...

We're still not sure that is going to happen.

At this stage of the game Sheeds is gone. He's not getting re-instated IMO, and you have to really ask yourself why would he want to be, so it's probably time for the fans who want to overthrow the board to pull their heads in...but I look forward to Sheedy being a part of the board sometime in the future...

All i will say to this is u ppl doing this challenging: "Get a heck E N LIFE"
Handing out flyers at the footy and coming on here sulking as if it was the end of the world coz we want a change of direction. Absolutely sad in my eyes carrying on like this. You are the ones making the club look like dills with all this hitting the public and media. I feel ashamed i actually have something in common with u all ( following bombers that is).

So grow up and move on with your lives and if don't like it go barrack for whoever he coaches for next year as it sounds like ya barrack for the coach and not the club. Sheesh.

D MAC OUT

I'm not defending them but at least they are taking action on something they are passionate about.

I'm passionate about my football club not being destroyed by minority groups who don't respect the decision made by a democatically elected board to make such decisions.

If it is a minority group than you have nothing to fear. It would need to be a majority for anything to change.

I dont want my country destroyed by minority groups who arnt happy with the decisions that the democratically elected incumbent government made.

So you cant vote against Johnny at the upcoming federal election Don. Same logic. Cheers.

Not even close to the same logic, no one is calling an Extraordinary election to try to have Little Johnny ousted. If you want to follow that path then go ahead and vote the board out at the normal election.

I'm more worried about the bad publicity the minority group can create. ATM there is a group of people who think that by calling an EGM and spilling the board, this will somehow rectify what has taken place.

The problem with this is that even though there is only a small number of people calling for this action, they are making enough noise to turn it into something it shouldn't be. The media will give them as much support as they need and blow it up to Watergate proportions because this is what sells their papers and gives them ratings.

To be honest, I couldn't care less if the current board is there next year (except Peter Jackson, IMHO the best CEO in the AFL), but what I wouldn't like to see is the board overthrown via an EGM as all this will achieve is unecessary publicity and damage.

how will the club be destroyed?

I’m still trying to work that one out. All these arguments are a little over the top IMO, but understandable as there is passion running on both sides.

Anyone spurting the old "the board was democratically elected, they make the decisions" argument are wrong. Corporation's Constitutions are setup with EGM provisions directly to eradicate this. If it was the case, boards could do whatever they wanted until the next scheduled vote. They cant, it could get to anarchy levels. EGM's are extremely easy to organise (us on Bigfooty would probably have enough to force one if we wanted) for a reason. The provision is there for a reason. And this is the exact reason. Issues which may or may not divide the member base, where a vote and re-assessment of where the club is at is needed. It keeps everybody on their toes, and is not necessarily a bad thing.

They only way they will get up in replacing the board is to have Sheedy either on their ticket, or an agreement in place with him to coach should they obtain the power required. Until they have that, they have nothing but simply a change of voting date, which would be happening anyway. I doubt Sheedy would agree to this "vote" on his future, which would mean pulling out of the race at Freo/Melb, unless of course he loses all positions before that.

But, this will take 2-3 months in the off-season, and will hardly "destroy" the club as some humorously put forward.

I will not be part of it, I won’t be throwing any membership anywhere etc, but I’m really not all that fussed about a potential EGM and whatever happens from there. In reality, it would only be bringing forward an inevitable vote in any case, hardly club shattering stuff, all done in the off-season.
