With 3 rounds to go and being 1 win from sewing up a top 2 spot should we look at resting some players?
This week we look like we are resting nank who has done a mountain of work through the season. Do we use the next few weeks to look at resting other players who have hardly missed a game such as dusty, cotch, jack, Rance, titch or anyone else who is a little sore and could do with a week off?
Or do we not flirt with form and play out best 22 right up until September?

Rest if required. Obviously it doesn’t suit everyone and some have had to back off earlier and are now picking it up so definitely not for them.
But a week off can do the body and mind the world of good for the right person under the right circumstances.

Yep if blokes need a rest, rest them. Don't rest players for the sake of resting them though. There's plenty of break in the pre-finals bye and (hopefully) semi final weekend.

It's a pretty short list of players who have played all 19 games so far this year - Lambert, Short, Edwards, Nankervis, Rance, Riewoldt.
Martin, Cotchin, Astbury and Grimes have played 18.

Nank gets a week off this week.
Jack sat out a full match after being concussed.
Lambert, Short and Edwards all seem durable enough to last until the pre-finals bye, and then freshen up.
Martin hasn't played the heavier contact role in the middle as much as last year.
Cotchin just pushes on.
Astbury, Grimes and Rance do a load of work but share it really well.

A bunch of first 22 have missed a bunch of games. Think Houli, Prestia, Graham, Rioli, (Butler?, Conca?). That should also help the above mentioned as the team's freshness as a whole is improved.

As others have said there is the pre finals bye plus the week off if/when we win the qualifying final. I’m more leaning towards no rest but I’ll back the club in to manage the players as they seem to make all the right decisions these days.

Last year, we won because of form and momentum.

So instead of resting players, let's try and gain some form and momentum for this year.

We all know what will happen if we rest half a team.

The media that lauded Norf for resting half a team will lay the boots into Richmond for doing the same thing.

The AFL would probably stop us.

Two sets of rules.

It's not so much about need a 'rest' more that you shouldn't be risking injury to gun players in any dead rubber games.

I would rest 5 or 6 of our guns for next week. Then use round 23 as a full dress rehearsal.

The players are not going to be 'in form' and with momentum from playing dead rubbers.
