Well, Judd drew blood when he elbowed Pavlich in the face during his Carlton Brownlow year. Pavlich still bears the scar on his cheek, but the MRP said it was insufficient force.
To say this is low impact is comparable to that farce.

Don't jumper punch, don't give light punches to the stomach, don't bump and have an accidental head clash.
Just kick a player in the face and get away with a fine.

Wonder if it happens again (it's an effective way to play the game) will they clamp down on it?
Wasnt a kick. But keep on with the outrage

A free kick was paid and a fine was given, that's not an 'effective way to play the game'.

I mean you're clearly incapable of looking at this logically as you are able to dumb down the incident to 'just kick a player in the face' so I suppose that tells the rest of us all we need to know.

The precedent has been set. I can't wait until AFL players now realize that this is now an effective strategy at protecting the space around you, and this sort of action becomes a lot more regular.

This is an extremely emotional and dramatic way to view the incident. In no ****ing way was this an 'effective strategy'.

I bet you a dickton of dollars that this does not become a lot more regular or is seen as effective.

Exactly, someone will get ****ed up bad by a similar incident. Then the AFL will do something, they should use their brains for once and do something about it now

Any intent to hurt and it should have been 5-6 weeks but he was clearly going for the ball and protecting himself.
I've never seen any player thrust their boor towards an opposition player's face in an open play situation in 40 years of watching the game. This sets a terrible precedent whereby players have now been given tacit approval by the MRP to jump in the air and raise their boot for a handball receive towards an opponent's face and not suffer a suspension irrespective of the consequences (they might get a fine at worst).

Can we all now stop reinforcing the myth that Greene is a marked man? He's clearly not. Anyway like I said previously it helps the Dogs that he is playing next week against West Coast.

Agreed. 99% of players in that sitch would take the crunch (well, mini crunch from dalhaus) in the hope of getting the ball away legally, rather than give away the free.

You chose a good name. What a load of bollocks.

If you were Tony Lockett leading, you would be in a marking contest. this was not a marking contest.

If you jumped to receive that handball and didn't put your leg out straight, there would have been no contact, because of gravity (it's this thing we have on our planet) Greene would have landed before Dalhaus got there. Of course he would have needed to twist around to face the right direction: much easier to plant your foot into another player to twist in mid air. Very impressive parkour move, but should not be on the footy field.

If you are so experienced how come you don't understand the concept of peripheral vision? Are you really saying because Greene was not directly looking at Dalhaus he was not aware of him?
No of course not. Because in the same sentence you say that he is protecting his space, as if that is any form of defence. It isn't, unless it was in a marking contest.
Go type in AFL biggest hits in google, have a look at blokes getting hit in similar situations, come back and tell us about their "peripheral vision"

Why does every other player in the MRP report have "The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty". But for Greene it says nothing.
He has already been done for misconduct this season, as well as striking. Surely he should be getting some extra loading for his bad record?

Kick someone in the face. That's a fine.
Tackle someone. That's a suspension

Or maybe it was decided that he didnt kick him in the face, because it was careless rather than intentional.

Tippett knocked himself out running in to Heath Shaw's knee in a marking contest. No penalty at all for Shaw - because he didnt knee him.

I think its appropriate. And the AFL should now clarify the rules explicitly if they do not want to ensure this already very uncommon thing doesnt happen again.
