In the absence of any report I can see I have pinched a few words from The Animal Enclosure.
Report with thanks to The Collingwood Turtle.

A closed session today was conducted at Goschs Paddock.

A positive sign was the sight of Sean Rusling early on the track about 20 mins before the AFL and VFL squads arrived.

Rusling ran laps and a sequence of 200 metre run thru's and he trained with the rest of the players for about half of training before leaving the track with his modified program.

Leon Davis arrived to speak the media about his new contract extension and was obviously very excited to be remaining at the club.

When the AFL & VFL squads hit the track, a running and short kicking session was carried out with the players split into various groups.

The kicking distances were elongated as the session progressed.

Notable in his absence was Josh Fraser but Nathan Brown did train and Anthony Rocca also backed up at training after playing on Sunday, which is great for the big unit.

Then the players were split into 4 groups with Brad Scott, Paul Hudson, Mark Neeld and Blake Caracella instructing the players in regards to different pressurised handballing drills with Michael Malthouse and Gavin Brown overseeing the players overall.

From observing training since May this year on a weekly basis, this was easily the most intense and physical I have seen the players from this type of drill.

The coaches obviously wanted the players to be very forceful and aggressive with their tackling.

Other sessions earlier this year have seen simulated pressure with little contact, but today there were numerous hard hits and players really seem to embrace and thrive on this style of training.

There was lots of vocal support from the players themselves complimenting each other even though some of them were feeling the pain of the collisions.

The next session was a full length of the ground, match simulation with a focus of using the corridor on most occasions, so much so Malthouse and the assistants stood on the wing forcing the players to go down the guts which really is distinct change from MM's old boundary line style.

This segment of training following on from the handballing drill was again full of passion and a willingness to tackle hard, and place inverted pressure with a midfield and defence roll up press.

The players were certainly not holding anything back and the coaches (especially Brad Scott) seemed encouraged with the player's eagerness to adopt this aggressive attitude at training.

This was a fairly long session given the intensity, lasting about 30 minutes.

Then the players broke up into little groups all over the field varying in having snap shots at goal to set shots with others playing kick to kick.

Nathan Brown appeared to get through training fine and Presti showed no ill effects from his head clash with Jonathan Brown.

Dale Thomas & Jaxson Barham were rested from some parts of training but otherwise it looked all fine from an injury perspective.

Love the Turtle's work.:thumbsu:

Good to see Ruz back, hopefully he plays in the 2's next week.

I'm guessing it was a rather intense session as our last session of the week would be fairly light leading into an interstate trip.

Is anyone else concerned Maxwell or Presti might not travel due to the pressure of the airplanes and their head injuries?

Maxie is keen, he started jogging on Monday and Presti will hitch over.

Link to vdeo of some training.

Training reports have really dried up around here. I wonder what happened to the crew that used to write them??

Surely someone on here goes to training!!!

Any reports are much appreciated :thumbsu:

I used to go sometimes and take photos and post them here. But in part ork intervened, and at the same time I began to wonder if players felt uncomfortable being photographed at training.

That was a thrilling report from the Turtle. :thumbsu: Good to hear that Rusling and Rocca are up and at 'em. Can't wait for the game.

What happened to Maxwell's cheek/eye, and when did it happen?

Think Maxwell did his cheek in the Hawks game, think it is cracked but obvously wasn't displaced. Is that correct injury buffs? MM mentioned it as being an injury he carried last week, must be on the mend surely??

You let me handle that - A mate of mine, Mork, is from Ork, and he should be able to get some strings pulled and get you back at training.

I can understand pork intervening, but Ork! Uh oh. ET is crashing at my place so you can borrow him for a showdown with Ork. Just bring a BMX and a light sabre to Goschs paddock next time.

What is TAE?

The Animal Enclosure, a half arsed attempt to replicate BigFooty.:p

Check it out if you want, I leave about a post a week on there, as most of the negative Collingwood supporters seem to have gravitated towards there.

Just google search for the animal enclosure, I doubt I could link it in here.

I think I only need one guess who is behind the TAE advertising on here haha. Probably the same guy who told me about 30 times on msn to sign up. He's persistent, I'll give him that.
