I based the trade on Goldsteins worth as pick 12.

There is a 69 point trade differential, based on this.

I don't think we are that keen mate. Don't take some of the absurd crap posted by North supporters too literally mate. Some of them jump on and off quicker than a thai ladyboy.

Your issue though is valuing a 29 year old out of form ruckman who just got dropped at pick 12.

Add on to that the fact that he has two years of massive salary left on his contract....

There is no way an opposition team will give up a top 15 pick it value him as such. Second rounder more like it realistically.

Probably a good point. Although second round picks are becoming quite valuable (look at 2013 and 2014 drafts).

Next year is really deep, maybe a future second for next years deeper draft would be more valuable in your rebuild.

I also think part of the value for trading goldy for you guys is for Preuss to have a good clear run at the job. Goldy has more value now than he will next year,

Perhaps it's worth maximising it now.

If the form turnabout doesn't come , North are stuck with the most expensive reserves ruckman in history for the 2018 and 2019 seasons .
If Kelly and Martin reject North's offers , you are probably right in that the money Goldy is on won't matter .
But if North were to lure those 2 blokes on the massive contracts reported , surely they couldn't afford Goldy in the reserves on big coin ...

Possibly, the word is we are going to be cracking hard in to next years draft and if the destination club was taking on the contract, then that might release him.

It's more complex than this. We only have three rucks on our list and I am happy to put a line through Daw now.

This leaves us only with Goldstein and Preuss. This places us in a potentially perilous position if we traded Goldstein and Preuss went down. We would need to add another capable ruckman, and if there is a capable back up ruckman out there, then why would clubs bother taking on Todd with his form slump & contract, and giving up a reasonably good trade pick?

When you sit back and view all the angles, it looks to me that Todd will be staying.

Braydon has effectively played most of his footy in the VFL because Goldsteins endurance allows us to add another player in our biggest area of concern, the midfield.

In short , both Goldy and Pruess are ruckmen .
If Goldy gets the nod , Pruess may well seek greener pastures elsewhere .
If Pruess gets the job , North face the prospect of probably exiting Goldy for minimal return or carrying his hefty contract in the reserves which may be difficult salary cap wise if North were to land Kelly and Martin .

Bellchambers, Longer, Nankervis and Gawn are all having inferior seasons to Goldstein even with him going through a bad form slump. Statistically he is around the same mark as most of the others on that list too, he is just being judged harsher because he should be much better

You're having a laugh if you think Goldstein has been close to Nankervis this season, he's not the strongest tap ruckman due to being shorter then most but he has been great this year with clearance work and around the ground play.
