Was talking to a few experience wafl guys over west. Wafl/vfl form does not transfer over at all to afl. I certainly didn't think his ability would transfer over but looking back his game is so defensive based it makes sense the chances would be greater

Harry Taylor, Kelly, Stewart, Podsiadly, Barlow, many more I can't name off the top of my head.

I loved Atkins from the beginning and pointed out that he’s going to superstar for the Cats, his form is looking positively good so far.
I’m excited to see what his future brings!

You'd hope he goes way past rooke.
Rooke was reliable at the end at important moments.
He was no world beater.

I'd suggest Atkins uses the ball better already.

Rooke actually had very neat skills. He was just an otherwise limited player (other than being a hardarsemuthafukka).

It is still early days but I think the club needs to prioritise contracts for Atkins, (and MOC and particularly Meirs.) A few more efforts like against Essendon and the price might start to ratchet up.

You would expect that Atkins would (like Stewart) would feel a debt of gratitude to Geelong for the ‘2nd chance’ and would stay for a good deal (perhaps in mid 300k) but definitely shouldn’t take this for granted.

Sure that they want to see how much coin they need for Kelly but I would be laying (massive) ground work for the others now.

Yes and that's just my opinion, not everyone will agree but I can see that he has the potential to become a superstar, just like I saw it in other players early in their careers, also in my book Sely is as much a superstar of the game as Ablett, minus the Brownlow's, I still think Sely should of come equal with Ablett in that Brownlow he last won with the Suns..(Ablett wanted that too) as he knows he was good enough to have won one too..
Yes Ablett may be slightly better (multiple Brownlows) but Sely has done a lot for us too, just remember back at how good he was in his first season in 07' and how far he has come since..
I saw the same potential in him then, as I do Atkins now, that may be just me and I could be wrong but I can believe that can't I?

Will struggle to play this week coming.

He was clearly hampered out there with the upper calf / lower hammy issue. Got belted pretty hard to by Goldy or Cunnington at one point. Credit to him taht he kept going but his rest week has arrived. Hope its only 1 week for him.

Played his best game V the Bombers last week.
Will be interesting to know about hes injury he might need scans.

Big fan of Atkins - teams need guys who give it absolutely everything every minute they are out there and are prepared to take the contact doing it.
He's a real team lifter and has some skills and tricks as well , the Bombers game is a sign of great things to come
