Guys I know this is very far fetched but nonetheless have given it a bit of thought. What would you guys think of Mr T Shirt himself, Tom Hafey coming down to Essendon, if not as senior coach, in some role at the club.
After our insipid performance on Sunday you'd think he'd be the next best thing other than EJ Whitten, and obviously EJ can't do it becuase he left us 12 years ago!!! Anyone have any thoughts???

The one problem with that is that Tommy is very close to Sheeds. Tommy is in fact some sort of mentor to Sheedy thanks to the Richmond relationship.

If going down that road, you could get Ronald Dale Barassi or David Parkin in the job.

pazza i strongly disagree with you mate, your point of view is very poor. t-short tommy in my opinion is regarded as being a great character and well respected individual of modern day football. giys like mckenna, bond, daniher aern't in the same calibre as tommy. its fair to say with the departure of sheeds, that tommy has all the attributes to continually build you club just like sheeds has for the last 27 years.

redz im glad that someone could have finally take some balls and come out and give tommy the recognition he deserves. can u just imagine how good it would be to see haffs walkin gdown the aisle of m23 at the quarter time breaks wearing those bright coloured adidas t-shirts. ohh what memories :)

Are there invisible paragraphs in Pazza's post that you're responding too?

How old would Tommy be now? 80? Too much of a risk that he'd get a heart attack if he was a senior coach. What role could he perform at the club besides that?

He came to my school a few years back and seemed quite an influential type. One that may get the guys motivated. I'd like to see it, I don't see a negative?

Look guys I know he's old but I do believe that you don't lose talent overnight. Tommy certainly had this when it came to motivation and tactics. Besides the late EJ, there aren't too many like our very own T-Shirt Tommy. Would love to see the red and black adidas t shirt on Tommy Hafey, even if it is in a lesser- role.

What about Barass, and lets not forget Bobby Davis, Happy Hammond playing in our rooms might be just what we need. ;)

well he could never coach again in a senior position the game has gone well and truly past him however he could probably knock the socks of the youngsters on how to train yourself, what he does 600 sit up every day runs a few kms and does a swim in near freezing conditions, he would definitely imrve our fitness.
