thehoff said:Do not rate him at all.
When he got a game, looked way out of his depth.
Way too many players in front of him. Should have traded him for another draft pick.
LifeSpan-Void said:that's not very accurate... he got bashed around by the brisbane defence in that farcical game, but his other two outings were fine. He just needs to put on more weight to match it with the big boys.
thehoff said:That is beauty of opinions... That is my opinion, bad luck if you don't like it.
In my opinion, he will not play more than 30 games.
you don't like my opinion? bad luck.LifeSpan-Void said:yeah well here's my opinion... i don't rate your opinions. you're out of your depth.you don't like my opinion? bad luck.
thehoff said:How have you established that i am out of my depth? For all you know, i could be the assistant coach at Geelong.

Think before you speak!
LifeSpan-Void said:oh for god's sake. you are a goose, you say ridiculous things all the time and you have no real insight into players. If you knew anything, you would know that Lonergan has massive upside. 3 senior games does not define a player. If you knew that... "Andy" (or is it Ron?) you would understand why Lonergan was not traded or delisted on the strength of his games this year. Back in your box.

thehoff said:Well, that is the beauty of an opinion. Some (many) may think you opinions are stupid, likewise with mine. However, should you or i be the judge of who is right or wrong? NO!
I have no real insight, hey? I can almost garantee i attended more games and more functions that you did this year, therefore i feel i have reason to comment, as i saw all but one match live and all of Tom's games. Did you?
How many did you see? Or are you a couch supporter? Unless you attended every home and away game and finals, you have no more right to comment than I.
Back in my box ay? Please give examples of other stupid things that i have said that prroves i have no real insight into players? As I said before, think before you speak, if you wanna make statements, back them up.
LifeSpan-Void said:*sigh* OK champ, here are some FACTS:
On debut, Tom took 6 marks and kicked 2.1 - not a superstar performance, but no worse than either Thurley's nor N. Ablett's debuts this year.
Against Freo Tom only kicked 1.1, on a day where none of our forwards had a good game. Average day, but HARDLY out of his depth.
Against Collingwood Tom kicked 2.0 and played what I thought was a better game than Ottens.
Against the Lions Tom was kept goalless and belted around by the Brisbane defenders. This was a poor game from Tom, but only through lack of experience and game hardness.
In conclusion, i rate him as having 3 positive games and one dog day. Your assessment that he is out of his depth is a shoddy and lazy dismissal of a potential CHF option who has shown as much potential from his first season in the seniors as Playfair did.
Attending more games than me doesn't make you a better supporter than me. It just means you have more of your weekends free and obviously more throwaway income than i currently do. Lucky you. That makes your assessment of him even less insightful than before. See hoff, you can teach a parrot to talk, but that doesn't mean it understands what it is saying. Just like you. You can go to every game of AFL footy ever played, but that doesn't make you a football guru. It seems to have made you more self-righteous, but that is about it.
Oh, and your comment on possibly being an assistant coach - idiotic. really ordinary.
back in your box.
LifeSpan-Void said:nice flip flop there. Now you hope there is "dramitc" improvement? you wished he had been traded away for a draft pick in your first post!
stick to your guns hoff, you either want him in the team or you don't.
And, if i go back to where you got your panties in a bunch in the first place, I think it was you getting upset at my opinion that your assessment wasn't accurate. Maybe it is you who needs the tissue?
catempire said:You two seem to be arguing over semantics so I won’t interfere in that, but there’s one thing I will say.
Posters on these boards often refer to “their right to an opinion” and that’s entirely true.
But one thing they often forget is that their right to an opinion is matched equally by everyone else’s right to scrutinise and criticise that opinion. After all, this is a “forum” and without such scrutiny there wouldn’t really be much of a discussion, would there?
LifeSpan-Void said:yeah i would have thought so too catempire, but Andy Lovell here seemed to get all defensive and antsy at my initial response. I'm just running with it, i can be an internet warrior for as long as thehoff wants to keep it going...
