How does Ted's public reaction initially, change the circumstances Subaru?

Rudd didn't contest Gillard in the 2010 ballot. He stepped aside. Because he lost the support of the party.

Just like Ted.

Like you i am not that close to Vic politics but if Ted wasn't given the ultimatum of go now or be pushed by the Liberals backroom heavies then i believe everything that Tone says as gospel,

Seem to me ...from the outside and not knowing a whole helluva lot about it that the guy seemed almost relieved to not be premier.
Seems to me also, that Kev desperately wanted to stay PM.

Now if the situation is the same ...fine ...I am sick of elected leaders (yes ..I know elected by the party - but really we all know that sometimes parties are elected because of WHO is leader - Kevin 07 says it all really ) being pushed /shoved/knifed whatever.

It only creates disunity and there are people here in SA that do NOT like our pissweak Premier and would NOT have voted Labor if he was leader.
Same goes, I know for the Libs. I concede that, and have not said otherwise.

Victoria has fixed term. Early election can only be held if No confidence motion carried, or Upper House rejects an "essential" bill.

A source, a senior media executive I cannot name, but for the sake of this article I will refer to as ‘Peter’, has revealed the strategies used and the motivation behind them.
He says that the main reason is the NBN:
“The Murdoch media has been leaning to the right since the Whitlam days but the anti-Labor meme was really ramped up just before the 2010 election. The catalyst was Murdoch’s luncheon with Tony Abbott, where the NBN (National Broadband Network) must have been the main talking point as the very next day Abbott publicly announced that he’d rip up the NBN.”​
Apparently Abbott almost gave the game away by his over-eagerness:
“He pissed a few of us off by jumping too soon, thinking that people might tie the announcement to the meeting with Murdoch, which luckily they didn’t. The NBN will effect Murdoch’s profits, and let’s be very clear on that, so the reason to back Abbott was clearly motivated by money for the media empire.”

LOL, the only campaign being waged against Julia is from herself and her arsehat Chief Media Advisor, McTurnen. You couldn't dream up such scenarios as Julia's 5-Day Western Sydney 'non-campaign' campaign, or her dog whistle blowing 457 stoush, while overseeing the highest intake, and having one as her Chief Media Advisor.

But yeah, it's all just a conspiracy. The sheeple just read whatever Murdoch wants. Not you of course though, you took the purple pill.

So the cuts will be - ready for it - massive cuts to the public service. Therefore he's actually going increase our low level of unemployment on a massive scale..much like Campbell Dumdum in QLD, Terrible Ted in Victoria and Barry O'Failure in NSW to make the cuts.

This will have a huge impact. How many families are going to suffer as a result of these cuts? Thousands.

Just wondering why it is a sure thing that the greens and labor will still hold the balance of power in the senate after the election?

The most important point to make about the balance of power in the next Senate is that it has nothing to do with the balance of vote and distribution of seats between Labor and the Greens. It all depends how well the Coalition does, and whether it can translate loss of Labor support into extra votes and seats for the Coalition, though there is also the possibility that extra Coalition support could see Coalition preferences help minor parties other than the Greens win seats

Hello,

I watched with great interest Mr Abbotts 60 minutes interview tonight, the women in his life put a lot of effort into putting him over, but I missed the results of the poll channel nine conducted that was asking viewers if they believed Tony Abbott had become a changed man since the last interview back in 2010.

Did anyone see the poll results? Thanks.

61% said they thought he hadn't changed. And he hasn't.
 
I think the previous 60 Minutes interview where they harangued him for being a catholic etc played a part in him losing the previous election. This interview might go some way to redressing the balance, and might assist in him winning the upcoming election.

It went well for him. Whether he has "changed" or not and his thoughts on the gay marriage thing is really irrelevant in terms of him obviously having affection and love for his sister and his family. That is a more important point, as it humanises him, and I think they got that point across.


Gillard, in contrast, has had affairs with numerous married men, wrecked the marriages of one of her labor party colleagues, has a hairdresser in the lodge who reckons his entitlements aren't great enough. Sums up a difference in morality and attitudes to others.

Gillard - unless the police interview/AWU esclates before Sept- I hope she is still the leader at the next election. Face the music. Labor party leaders have a repeated policy of getting out and changing "leaders" instead of facing the music. Carr to Kirner etc, change leaders at the drop of a hat. No shuffling of the deck chairs please in this instance.

Abbott would have damaged his support from the Christian lobby with that interview and the rest of us don't believe him.

Agree, last night he abandoned his strong Catholic faith in that abortion/homosexuality now does have an upside & the first thing that came into my mind was his comment that "he would do anything to become PM other than sell his arse" i just hope that Windsor has it down somewhere or at least has a backup to verify what he said during those days of negotiation back in 2010.

Noddy - you are being a little silly here. If Abbott had been the froth mouthing evil extreme catholic gay-hater you apparently have in your head, he would hardly have changed his views after his sister came out. Clearly he would have drummed her out of the family pack.

Back in dem days Jane they locked them away in a cupboard, Tone last night looked like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth & you wonder why i & others just can't take/trust the guy.
