This guy is growing on me, loved his game last night, infact, I've been impressed with his season as a whole.

Yes has his shit moments but who doesn't, he is becoming a very important player for us.

When he took on Aker last night, I absolutely loved it, he looks so much like the "un-likely" type, yet he gets the job done week in week out!

Well done POSS!!

I've hated that peroxide goatied w***er his whole footballing career, so to see Toovey of all people take off and beat him one on one right in front of me was a season highlight.

Toovey proved he isnt slow, and that when he improves just a little more will become a much touted member of our future premiership back 6.:p

Still not sold although the run away from Aker was very enjoyable, probably because he was in a black & white jumper.

That run away from aker was so awesome, happened right in front of where I was sitting too, couldn't believe he had the guts to bounce with aker right on his hammer like that, thought for sure he would have tried to handball off, but glad he didn't.

Most importantly the kick after the run was good as well, so often after running at full pelt like that, players shank the kick. He didn't exactly have much room for error either.

Great work toov! I love seeing aker get beaten.

But I didn't really notice him for the rest of the night, did he do anything else?

Although his run off Aker was great to watch and he has improved a lot, in the last quarter there was about 4 times when he blazed the ball inside 50 without looking to a better option. (the ball ended up rebounding easily for WBD) Other than that he had a good game

Yeah he had the opportunity a few times to put some quality ball in but he just went long blindly. He wasn't the only one, but he was the most prominent one.

Use to have Cox rated higher than toovs and goldy.

Now imo its probably goldy/tooves with cox trailing. Its as if those three guys are battling it out for those other spots in our back 6. The thing tooves and goldy have over cox is the ability to really kill a contest and block out any chance for a forward. Cox leaves himself too open for errors sometimes.

Really impressed by his form this season

That's what happens when you play kids and give them more than 2 games in a row. And his still young.
He actually kicked 4 goals one night against Richmond to help us come from behind in his first season.
I'm glad his confidence is up. I've always said his not that bad, still needs to keep improving but the signs are good.

he runs along the wing and beats a player who is past his prime and we all go gaga?? c'mon.
tooves can't KICK the ball!!
over-committed to a contest a few times last nite, allowing the bulldog player to run and play on.
and he went for a punch in the 1st quarter, completely missed, and his opponent in higgins marked and goaled.

he is just a medium defender making up the numbers. get excited at your own risk!!

I got really frustrated with Tooves in the last quarter, because he just blazed away into the forward line. I thought the rest of his game was very good though and I loved seeing him run away from & humiliate Akermaggot. :)

That so called run he did when he took Aker on would do a lot for his confidence. When you play competitive football it's those moments that you draw on to build your confidence. He will get better and as I said previously he still needs to improve.

Remember it took Leon Davis 100 games to become a reasonable player and he failed badly in two GF's. It's only in the last 2 seasons when his stepped up in the midfield we have started seeing some consistancy. The pies played him every week I might add.

I knew he'd show all you doubters (:

Watching him burn off Acker last night, I thought to myself "He's doing it, he's showing what I knew he had in him". Over the last few weeks, Toovey has improved out of sight.

This is what I've been waiting 3 years for :)

Is everyone forgetting that Aker is a 32 year old about 5 years past his prime? he hardly the quickest player in the league anymore. I must admit Toovey has grown on me i didn't think much of him untill this season, but with that said i reckon hes game still needs to grow in the spot hes playing before we find a replacement, he may be finding his way out for Marty clarke if clarke gets some form.

The toove chant when he went near it

and when he kicked the goal, we have our cult name people

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Loved the run away! Looked like a sock puppet chasing a possum.
But seriously Tooves has been ok lately and although im not sold on him until his decision making improves he does provide some value.

Evocative image - love it.

He is pretty athletic and generally very good in contested situations, but his skills and decision making still let us down a lot. Has improved but was starting from a low base.

is aker considered a fast footballer ?

Im also happy with his improvement however i still think there are players who can and eventually will take his place.. he stops his opponent perfectly, but time and time again his disposal lets him and the rest of the team down.. needs to fix that asap if he wants to have any future in football..

All Australian CHB in Junior football? Wow you'd expect he'd be a bit better.

Hope he does a "Jack Watts Theory" and starts of crap and turns into a "SUPERSTAR!!!"
