for the people that are interested, its still more than possible, without being unrealistic. It can happen if collingwood want it bad it enough.

What we need to happen:

* Port Adelaide to win 1 out of next 3. (They play hawthorn and geelong)
* Kangaroos to win a maximum of 2 games out of 3, 1 preferable. (They play geelong)
* Collingwood to win all of last 3 games (which will knock out sydney, because we play them)

That will help us jump 3 spots. Not totally uneralistic if collingwood want it enough.

Melbourne is a must win that will just about secure our spot in the 8.

One of Sydney or Adelaide, Probably Adelaide.

Sydney is a winnable game.

I really think we will win all of the three. Melbourne being the toughest since they always give us a shake, and because it's Neitz' 300th game.

Adelaide aren't as good as they use to be, but they will need to win that game to come into the 8.

If the pies continues their shocking form since the flogging by Brisbane then we should not even consider finals...

If we could "flick the switch" and somehow regain the form of the first half of the season, there is no reason why we can't win quite easily the last three games, and the fact that there still is a chance in making the top 4 is comforting. However figuring out how to "flick the switch" is very difficult.

If Buckley comes back in this week there could be some renewed enthusiasm which could mean we romp it in against the dees and return some confidence we lost - however if we win like we did against Carlton we will make the 8 however will only be making up numbers

I hope it happens but on current form i doubt it will, but if we do turn our form back to what we saw earlier in the season then anything is possible.

To get a top 4 spot i would say we need to win all of our remaining 3 games. Hopefully friday night have a BIG win against melbourne to restore confidence.

Would we prefer to finish 3rd and play WC @ Subi or finish 4th and play Geelong @ the G?

Forget top 4.. U just are not good enough! Even with the spoon fed draw that you have had, Just worry about beating Melbourne( Which I think you will do) And be happy that your playing finals. You will do well do win 1 of your last 2.

If you think the Hawks are "Real" contenders this year i think you have a shock coming your way come september

I would expect the Hawks to lose a Prelim Final to Geelong or West Coast or Sydney interstate so make of that what you will.. But we are more of a chance than your mob that's for certain:thumbsu:

I agree but i am proud of the fact that our mob built from the where we were and didn't just sacrifice 4 years celler dwelling to build a side

How many players with finals experience does Hawthorn have? This is not saying you wont do better just wondering how many you have.

Thanks for the insite Hodgeyroad - never understand why people like you come on opposition sites and say sh*t like that - but if it makes you happy then good on ya!

Yeah we are struggling atm - but I think the point of the post was that if we pick up our game then we are a chance to make the top 4! Every side has had a slump this year - it is just a matter of when it happens - if I remember correctly everyone said West Coast were gone, Hamthorn lost in Adelaide by over 10 goals!!

I heard someone say that it is very hard to keep momentum for 22 weeks plus finals and all teams have down at some stage during the year - hopefully this is just ours and we will be raring to go come September - but who knows!!!

bingo well said, although it is becoming too much of a common occurance that we let the good work slip to bottom sides at around the round 20 mark

4 years??? These are the finishes for both clubs in the prevvious for years!

03 Hawthorn 9th Collingwood 2nd
04 Hawthorn 15th Collingwood 13th
05 Hawthorn 14th Collingwood 15th
06 Hawthorn 11th Collingwood 7th

So I understand you have been better. But 4 cellar dwellar years?? More like 2!! And we have both finished in the bottom 4 twice in the last 4 years so not much difference:thumbsu:

You saying you think you have a better chance in the finals?? to answer your question we have Crawford, Dixon, Vandenberg, Danny Jacobs, Joel Smith and Trent Croad!

Did you have to make a booking to use the computer at the school library?

if i remember rightly the year you finished 9th clarko thought you had premiership side and when it didn't work out you stopped trying to compete and bottom out four year cellar dwelling was a rough and slightly exagerhated figure but the point is the powers at hawthorn made a decision to stop competing get rid of most the middle aged players and get a few high draft picks and start again

Thanks for that, you've just educated me about my football team :thumbsu:

Ow, and Hawthorn will be knocked out of the finals without winning a game :)

On current form no i dont think Collingwood will do better in finals. But that doesnt mean i think Hawthorn will do much more than we will

The term is rebuilding! Yes we did get rid of dead wood but who wouldn't?? Btw Clarko started coaching in 05

We shall see won't we.. But id imagine we will win a finals match!! Our record against the sides in the 8 is very good:cool:

Agree 100%. You're not going to win anyone over with braindead comments like "Its called having a broad knowledge of Football not one club ignorance like most Collingwood fans". Best tell your story walking.

Your right it was schwabb at that point thanks for that. But it wasn't "rebuilding" rebuilding suggest you had a terrible bunch and that you were finishing that low because your that bad say like carlton and richmond atm.

You guys could have competed but you choose to throw in the white towel forget about winning and aqquire a side that was decent via pp and high draft picks. Mind you i think out of all the sides to build a good team from just "rebuilding" you guys did it the best, got the right balance and chemistry and took the right risks that said to throw in the towel and start again is an act so weak that even the lonie twins would be ashamed of it
