On the Eagles offical website with a poll asking where people expect the Eagles to finsih in the final 8.

Apparently 42% expect a top 4 finish. Am I the only one that thinks this is delusional?

On current form we should beat Melbourne ( and need to beat them by 8 goals plus to regain some momentum) but I can't see us beating the Dockers in the derby.

What do you think?

That poll was first put up back when we were holding 2nd spot, it wasn't unfair to think we would finish top 4 back then, and that is why the results show it.

With Embley and Gardiner's imminent return, and Gaspar heading back to the WAFL this week, the thought occured to me that we may very well have a full list to pick from next week.

I'll say it again, the derby will be a hell of a game, and we need to play ourselves into some form this week against the Dees, but I expect a win. As for making the top 4- its possible, but even if we win and win well this week and next, its beyond our control- we need two of Sydney, Brisbane, Collingwood and Adelaide to fall down badly over the next fortnight.

Only one win seperates 2nd from 8th. It is completely possible to finish anywhere from 3rd down to 8th with just the one win against Melbourne. We could also finish as low as 7th even if we win both our remaining games, or possibly 2nd (of course, all hypotheticals exclude percentage).

The Eagles website seems to be very slack in fresh content (apart from the daily updated news articles linked to the main afl.com.au page)

The polls are usually up for around a month-6 weeks whilst Ask Woosha still had May questions 2 weeks ago (has been updated now)

It's not out of the realms of possibilty to finish top 4. Mathematically we can finish top 2 still :D

but Collingwood beating Adelaide last week and Sydney beating Brisbane really upset our chance of a top 4 finish.

We would've been 5th now I think if those results had've been swapped.

Check my previous post in this thread to see what possible ladder positions await us. The only top 8 certainty is that Port will finish 1st.
