Hi everyone - I am yet another TPFPer to make the move to Big Footy after this morning's devastating news about TPFP closing down - I can completely understand why it was done and I too want to add to the chorus of people thanking Vi, Daryl and Mark for all they have done over the years - hope to catch up with you at a few games over this coming season.

For those who don't know me, I am the one who created that thread on TPFP titled "A Pictorial History of the Port Adelaide Cheer Squad" which had lots of my old pics and newspaper clippings from the early 1970s era when the Port Cheer squad (of which I was the leader at the time for several years) was very big (see my avatar pic of our cheer squad at an early 1970s Grand Final at Adelaide Oval) - our club asked me for approval to put some of my pics in their book Since 1870 which of course I felt honoured to agree to. It's a shame my thread has now been lost due to TPFP closing because I have been contacted by younger Port supporters over recent years who have stumbled across it (my thread) only to be amazed at how big and colourful we were back then.

I was thinking of creating a new nickname in here but decided to keep the same one I used in TPFP because so many people know it and I see already numerous people that I know from TPFP have joined Big Footy - hello people.

Anyway, looking forward to participating in here.

PS:- can we add emoticons in here to our posts?

Edit:- A bit more info re me - I was on the Outer Army committee in 2012 and again in 2013 as the membership co-ordinator.

sad to see the end of TPFP. I posted there a lot (specialK) while lurking here, then posted on both. Have rarely been there in recent years though, other than a random visit (never banned). There were some quality posters, and great to see most seem to be moving here.

I saw him comment on a friend's post yesterday & he said that he wouldn't be returning. I was shocked when I saw that TPFP had shut down, I wasn't on there Friday so have no idea what happened. I was more of a reader than poster on the site as I was intimidated about my posts being shot down.

I saw some discussion about him on this board earlier today, he was being compared to Johnny Haysman. We were talking to members of the Victorian Supporters group & they told us that his mother, Sharon is a nice lady but he has an attitude.

That's not very good that you felt that way, I thought largely most of the community was plenty welcoming of everyone's opinions.

Rarely would you see a serious debate eventuate unless you happened to mention Primus/Choco in a negative or positive light (go figure) or questioned the relevance of the Magpies etc.

I think I also know ttport as well but he refused to tell me his name on the site.

This is the reason I feel slightly apprehensive about the "old boys club" turning up en masse and hope that they don't expect to do a Russia on us. Mods here are fair so I expect they will keep everyone in line. We don't need to be factionalized.

Every week there is a 'preview' thread which starts up when the previous game ends as well as a 'match day discussion' thread for when the game is on. Then a review thread is made after that. We also do a POTY voting for each match.

We've got the 'Media *Shakes Head*' thread which is for criticising the medias representation of Port. We've also got a 'Media *Nods Head*' thread for good articles we see around the place.

Power Pete posts his training pics here when he is able to go.

We're all in it for the same goal which is supporting our club and watching us head toward the next premiership. We had some pretty dark times on here as well but last year was a fantastic time to be a part of this forum seeing everyone so happy and up and about.

I think it might've been more because of your nickname rubbing people the wrong way, I wasn't a fan of Hartless because that was what people called Hamish when they were putting him down.

I doubt they'll (or we'll, even though I came here in January) have the intention of 'taking over Big Footy' because technically we're the minority now & just looking for a place to talk footy like Macca said.
