The one thing I really want out of this trade period is to get into the 20-30 range somehow. Our second rounder is now at 40. Those early second picks are gold for Dalrymple.
Downside of winning a flag
Our picks are lower :(

they're offering him 450k for 4 years.

Surely not....

* cat amongst the pigeons post *

We've two-ruckman injuries away from struggling. If we add another one to our list I'd be much more comfortable.
I think most teams are in that position as you cant afford to carry any more than 2-4 ruck types as these days you rarely play more than two in a game. So long as you have backups who can cover (look what Cordy and Toyd did against Mummy in the Prelim) and someone like a Cloke could ruck if worst case scenario eventuated.
The Goetz idea was a good one and I would expect us to do something similar this year although we need someone who wants to play not another Goetz.

Shame to see Stevens go. Gun at his best and the flat track bully nonsense is a myth. Anyone who can grab multiple bog performances in our midfield is a very good player.
Shame that Jong was way cheaper.
Yes flat track may be overrated but he did seem to struggle to play at his high level each week but some of that may have been injury realted

Bloody hell, the Hawks did brilliantly getting Mitchell for 14.

I reckon Sydney should be trying to package 14 + 17 for a top ten pick.

I know this will never happen, but I'd be doing pick 1 for pick 4 + 6 (Prestia), then pick 6 for picks 14 + 17. Essendon could fix a lot of their problems with 4, 14, 17 and 20. Or maybe something similar with Adelaide's 13 which will go to Carlton.

Holy ****

Swap-fest sees Giants land No.2 draft pick

GREATER Western Sydney will take selection No.2 to the NAB AFL Draft after exchanging picks 3 and 16 to the Brisbane Lions for the prized pick and a bunch of later selections.

The Lions handed over picks No.2, 31, 51 and 60 in exchange for pick No.3 and No.16 in the NAB AFL Draft.

The Giants have been keen to push as near to the top of the draft as possible to increase the likelihood of securing a player before having to use points to secure their two Academy graduates Will Setterfield and Harry Perryman.

The Lions now have three selections in the first 19 picks and will potentially secure a first-round pick from Gold Coast for Pearce Hanley as it looks to start anew under Chris Fagan.

Saints could be using a first round swap to land Steele. 10 for 15/16 and Steele.

Maybe that future 2nd is obtainable.
We would need to provide Koby plus something decent to get a future second.
IMO if Saints expend a future second on Steele, they'll want to keep their future 3rd. If they get Steele by downgrading their first this year, we're a much higher chance of getting a future 3rd. We have retirements and possible delistings and trades next year, I'd much prefer to bank a future pick.

pick 6 is no guarantee to end up being traded for Prestia, especially with Mitchell only going for pick 14 and being a better, less injury prone midfielder

I know it won't happen but it would be hilarious if Essendon bid on Setterfield to completely stuff their plans up

Yeah, obviously a few things need to fall into place.

GWS would pass and take McCluggage at pick 2. They can't lose.
