For what its worth I live in Bentleigh and bumped into Clarko last night..

Asked him if he had herd anything about the dogs trades smiled and said they have a big one on the way and its not Cloke????
Does it involve roberts being traded

Besides Cloke as far as I can gather we've been linked to:
- Motlop
- Deledio

And BS, ever so slightly linked to
- Jack Riewoldt (who seems to think he's going to be a one club player if the GF breakfast is anything to go by)
- JOM (as a gentle chat on where he's at)

... but with us not willing to throw the book at Hamling, resigned to losing Stevens Hrovat & the Badger, and chasing Hurley pretty hard earlier in the year we do seem to be keeping some space for action next week.

Interesting, I wonder if he was pulling your leg though?

Credibility lost as soon as you wrote that he smiled...
I've bumped into Clarko before, he was one of the happier, friendlier AFL people I've met (although it was during finals series during the Hawks dominant era so he had reasons to smile).

TBH there's only one AFL person I've ever dealt with (over the course of a few hours, not a quick hello) who I thought was a complete self-obsessed cretin.

Barrett just put this on his sliding doors:

"IF there's one club playing high-grade poker in this trade period ...

... it is the Dogs. Look out when they reveal their hand. Bevo might have a flush, maybe a full house."

What are we planning?!

You do have ask , if Barrett knows anything why is he not telling the world.
That's what he gets off at !

What does it have to do with then?

Our forward half ball use was disgraceful. He's elite in that area.

His body of work is consistent over a 5 year period. He's in his prime. He doesn't get hurt. He kicks goals. He plays the toughest position on the ground. And all while he's playing for a coach that he faaaaaarken hates.

His prelim was terrible and arguably he's slight overpaid, but now he's worth sweet FA?

I get he's a risk, and I couldn't care less where he ends up to be honest, but he's a superb footballing talent with runs on the board and the narrative around him the last month is typical "sheep" footy thinking in my opinion.
I was a strong supporter of bringing Motlop to the Dogs, and still might be, but I simply can't completely dismiss his pathetic Prelim Final performance. Had Motlop performed for us like that in a huge final, I'm sure we wouldn't all be cool about it.

Motlop has some very attractive attributes and some not so attractive characteristics. It seems that most AFL clubs have similar views to those who are dismissive of Motlop on here, so I can't agree that the Motlop sceptics on here are "sheep" - they may disagree with you, but that doesn't make them sheep.

The acid test for Motlop, as far as I'm concerned, will be whether we make a play for him. He is allegedly very gettable and fills a need for us. If we don't have a crack, I'd assume that our club shares some of the same concerns I and others have about his willingness to sacrifice and his ability to stay in the moment and work his way into big games when things don't go according to plan.

I bumped into Dalrymple himself a few weeks back and he said we'd be pretty quiet over the trade period, nothing big in the works, so I'm not expecting any surprises.

Ultimate bigfooty contradiction 4 posts apart :D

Stop making shit up. It's annoying to have to read through.

Unless the dogs are restructuring contracts, presumably the Hurley money and whatever we'll save on Hrovat, Stevens and maybe Hamling is available.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a big trade of a player we might not expect. If there is cap room, an opening at a key position, and a young team contending for a few years that will look mighty attractive to a few players.

You've piqued my curiosity Mofra, is it someone you can mention here?
