Ok going on some posts from here over the last few month, things start to make sense with Adams and hamling.

It is being reported that the club has known about Adams for awhile, he isn't demanding a trade, rather than if something comes up I would like to go.

Also with hamling I'm sure the club would have been informed about any family issues during the season and would have been planning for anything to happen, I'm sure they have had plan a, b, c, d ect there waiting.

When we look at the brand info that he has met with the club, this starts making sense as an option that we would be looking at him taking into account hamling and Adams.

Other info that was around was that the coaches rate Collins and see him playing a bigger role in 2017.

So I still stand by the fact that we shouldn't up an offer for hamling for the sake of it, just like we shouldn't trade for a key back that we really want, if who we really want isn't available this year.

So let's if we lose both hamling and Adams first get the max deal that we can, if we are keen on brand sign him up. We have moz Roberts cordy maybe even Cloke to play down back.

Let's not panic, because our options may become clear in 2017 that's when we might go bang on a big deal.

So for now let's just collect drafting/trading assets that can be used next year.

Just heard on afl trade radio that Tom Lonergan isnt happy with the contract Geelong have offered him and that he almost went to the dogs last year but things changed at the last second.

Could be a possible get with us loosing two key defenders and would be a great mentor for our young defenders in Collins, Zordy, Smith etc he would be a great asset for a year or two

If we lost Adams and Hamling, we would have to.

Nice to have him for a year and one last crack and help develop Collins and Cordy.

This. JMac should not jump at shadows and stick to the plan with input from Dal and Bevo. Only target players that will improve/compliment our list. We do not want to get stuck with a long term lemming (word of the day :)) just so we have a pre-ordained number of KPB on our list. This is old style dogs thinking

Would Sam Collins even fit into our defence? I keep hearing that he's slow.
That's my worry. Roberts & Dad Collins aren't quick, not sure we want another defender who would just compete with those two.

He could then transition into a coaching role - that's the done thing nowadays isn't it?

As far as I'm concerned

Adams hamling pick 40 for their future 1st round pick and 35

That gives us picks 18, 35 and two 2017 1st round picks enough to get some amazing upgrades.

Also draft watchers any SA kids in the top 15 picks this season ?

Looks like Adams stays for 2017 at least....

Looks like they think they've got Hamling.

In some ways trade wise better off if Adams left and Hamling stayed.

Maybe WC want to do something with Adams? Unlikely you'd think.

With Adams spending 2017 playing with us, there is also every possibility that he falls in love with the club and no longer wishes to leave. That happened with Nathan Brown and Ryan Griffen, didn't it?

Actually, disregard.

Yep prob worst case scenario, now we lose Hamling this year and next year lose Adams with no contract meaning we get peanuts for him
