On paper I struggle to find a spot for Libba these days. Though in reality, he's one of the first picked every week alongside Bont and Naughton when fit. Can't understate how much we need the mongrel he brings into the side. Very skilled user too, which we unfortunately lack amongst a number of our mids
Libba started really well and tapered off once his knee flared up. Think he will be able to sustain that peak for longer next year. His best position I think is a tagger but he needs to get himself super fit to play this role

As much as I want to keep pick 12. I have a feeling it could be in play with the Crows if Grundy comes into the picture. We can drop back into the second round, get an extra pick/s in the 20's. And it gives them more ammunition to make a trade for Grundy if he requests a trade, whilst we ship one off for Bruce and still have a solid draft hand.
Saints posters are melting now they realise we really don’t have to hand over 12 for Bruce.

You mean like our posters did when we were not getting a first round pick for Stringer!!!!!

Laughable we have so many posters bagging out opposition supporters for melting.

Have you ever read our trading threads, match day posts, review posts or discussions about the merits of our players. It is like bagging salty Sydney supporters about umpiring, we do that well to.

Anyways good to see players we need in the positions we need nominate us for a change. Get it done without trying to be too clever. No need with our player profile.

Any other trades now are cream

It’s not a case of trying to clever, it’s about utilising our assets to our advantage, no one else’s. 2 players have nominated us, let’s use that strength as it doesn’t happen often.

When analysing the GF on The Front Bar, Bev said he needed to remain impartial except when it came to Petruccelle in the GF Sprint. He later clarified this - which I missed. Did anyone else hear this?

Can't say I've seen much of Keath, but if we manage to get him AND Bruce then it will be a big coup for the club.

The main reason I'm excited is that the one thing our young team has lacked is physical presence. Since the departures of Stringer, Boyd, Roughead, and Dahlhaus, and Picken and Morris not playing we have not had the big bodies and physical traits necessary to compete. Cordy is not that big or quick. Schache can go missing and lacks that real big man presence. Young is tall but has the body of a flanker, and Trengove is big but lacks mobility and speed. Finally, while Naughton and English are guns they've still got a fair bit of development in them.

I’m reluctant to post this as there’s been that many ITK posts over the last few weeks and they seem to have lost their shine, but I will anyway, I was told last night by a pretty reliable source that we are going hard at another target on top of Keath and Bruce, a gun HF from a top melb club. Was told it’s probably Elliot, which makes sense as there’s been a light link by the media.

Would be a huge trade period if managed to bring in all three. Personally I see it being too difficult as the contracts for all would surely be bigger than what we have to spend so I’m thinking Elliott ends up T a club that can offer more $.

But, we’re going hard is what I’ve heard.

I’ve heard the same re Elliot.

Elliot, Bruce, Dale
Jamarra, Naughton/Schache, West/Cavarra/Draft Weightman/Another small

Assuming we land Elliot, if the above mentioned posts are true. Suddenly our forward line looks pretty decent on paper in a couple of seasons. We have three tall forwards that we can rotate around based on match ups, all three would likely be top heavy, unless we play a team riddled with injuries and no tall defenders.

Dale and Jamarra are not slow. Both can take marks, both can kick bags. Dale is a good set shot, whilst Jamarra has good pressure skills

If Elliot keeps his body in shape, we have a small forward with goal sense and pace. Just throw in another small with speed, and the work rate to tackle and harass teams.

It's a pretty good balance.

Pretty much all we will then need is a Hill like winger. Pacey with a very good kick, and another tall young KPD to develop whilst Keath is around, Trengrove and Keath are close to 30. Team is starting to look much more balanced on paper. How far we go will then come down to our midfield. Making sure we deliver the ball well, minimize turnovers, and not be b*tched again like we were vs GWS.

I remember laughing at the implausibility of Essendon landing 3 high-profile targets in Saad, Smith and Stringer during the 2017 trade period.

I have no doubt that if Elliot is on our radar then we would have a strategic contingency in place should the stars align and all 3 accept our offers.

Trust in Sam Power!

Yeah, I definitely think it can be done trade wise so if they all request a trade then it’s as good as done imo. It’s more so do we have the cap space to fit all three in. We’ve got a war chest but is it big enough ?

Elliot Bruce Dale
Jamarra Naughton Schache

Assuming we land Elliot, if the above mentioned posts are true. Suddenly our forward line looks pretty decent on paper in a couple of seasons. Can drop Schache for someone smaller if we need more pace, a speedy tackling pressure machine. Move Naughton back is another option. Pretty much all we will need is a Hill like winger. That fwd six is way too tall. Can’t have all of Naughts, Schache, Bruce and Jamarra in there.
I suppose Bruce will be pretty much done when Jamarra comes along but even then I can’t ever see our fwd going with 3 talls.

That's why I said we can drop one of them;)

Depth and flexibility to adjust for match ups is very a good thing to have.

It's a little tall on that list and needs another small yes. But two talls, (from Naughton, Bruce, Schache), Two mediums (Dale, Jamarra assuming he doesn't grow to much more), Elliot and someone else as smalls, is pretty much your standard forward line set up. Though some teams go with additional smalls these days.

Yeah two talls sound about right. I’m loving the thought of Bruce and Naughts as the talls, so atm Schache misses imo.
I still think there’s a chance Naughts goes back with Keath and Bruce and Schach are our fwds.

So many options now with two extra talls.

Probably need to turn 12 into two 2nd rounders somehow. I feel like a 2nd rounder for each should get the deal done.

I don't mind if the club went this route at all. 2 ready made bookends is worth more to us than a first round pick IMO. We don't really need to take the youth route anymore.

You can play 3 tall forwards but really none of them can be a defensive liability. Bruce and Naughton both excellent for big guys at applying themselves with defensive pressure.

Schache is the problem. That’s not to say he can’t play along side them but he needs to be kicking regular goals and he needs to be a good ruck chop out. And he needs to force opposition defenders to play 3 key defenders. Could really come unstuck against someone like Richmond if he’s not marking it and his man is rebounding at will.

I expect Jamarra to take his spot in 2021/2022, far more athletic and better mark.

I’m not sure Jamarra is a med fwd. He already has key fwd attributes and when eventually putting size on, he’ll be a pretty big player.
