Saints have other plans for their forward line, need the cap space and need the draft picks. While I'm sure Power will tweak what he can to get the deal over the line the Saints shouldn't think they hold all the cards.

Because you have no one retiring that’s worth more than $50 and are way over paying for Hill and Hannebery.

You will also need an absolutely butt load of space to get the other King over next year because the hawks and cats will be growing huge coin at him.

Really hope we don't go after Ben Long. I watched nearly every Saints game this year because my partner is a Saints supporter and the kid is not AFL quality. He's a downgrade on what we've already got. List clogger.

He's got pace to burn but has concrete hands. Basically, needs a handle on the footy to pick it up.

I've had a think about your offer and, given the strategy you have outlined for certain Crows recruiting targets and our strategy for Bruce and Keath and our next year's NGA/FS issue, it does look like a win-win for both clubs.

In terms of a straight out points comparison, we would finish a couple of hundred points to the good if you come in around 8th but against that you do get pick 12.

Aside from Steven, none of those players should be on more than an average salary and their total salaries would be about what you’re paying Hill now. The Saints haven’t exactly been frugal either, e.g. the amount Hannebery is on for the next four years.

Now you want to overpay for Hill, probably overpay Zak Jones, bring in Sam Gray and Paddy Ryder and were trying to get Alex Keath. No doubt there’ll be another defender you’re chasing since missing out on Keath.

Plus while doing all this you’re almost surely trying to keep your cap for next year as low as possible so you can go over 100% the following year for the first year of the Two Kings Ransom, as Max King’s extension kicks in and you try and Boyd Deal your way into Ben King.

You need cap space and draft picks. There’s a reason you’re putting Bruce, and Dan McKenzie only months after he signed a 3 year deal, on the market.

Elliot is not what our forward line needs. Bailey Dale is a very similar player and although he's not as proven to be able to perform consistently as well as he did towards the end of the season, he also hasn't had as bad of an injury history as Elliot and is a lot cheaper that the 650+ that Elliot would be after.

We need to be looking at small pressure forwards in the mould of a Gryan Miers/Tom Papley crash and bash crumbing type.
