Good news is that we’ve found out what the Saints/Swans want for Bruce/Jones. Pick 28, think we can find a way to get there with our picks.

I wonder if Sydney would be satisfied with pick 35 and Lewy Taylor for Jones?
Surely our mid third or even a fourth would get Taylor.
Then we have our 2 earlier thirds for Keath...

Something happening for the saints, if true we might see the Bruce deal start to move. Port giving up Ryder + Howard + pick 10 for pick 12 + pick 18 is an interesting move. They probably could've kept 10, got 18 for Howard and a late pick for Ryder if they wanted to.

AFL website reporting that after Saints get the Hill/Howard/Ryder trade done with Freo/Port, they will turn their attention to Dogs/Swans and Bruce/Jones.

Good to hear that they are going about the trades in this way rather than overcomplicating things

You'd think something like;

StK lose Bruce, gain Jones and one of Dogs 3rds
Swans lose Jones, gain 32
Dogs lose 32 and a 3rd, gain Bruce

Should be equitable enough for all.

Leaves our other 2 3rds to package up for Keath (either directly with Adelaide or through a 3rd club for a higher pick), if we can get something back in the 50s or so for our 2nd pick, that'd be a little bonus

Leaves us with Keath, Bruce, pick 13, a lower pick and all 2020 picks intact.

It's not done, just speculated - there'll be more pick swaps involved no doubt. Trades are very rarely so advantageous to one club like that would be for the Saints.

So if the port freo saints trade goes down. does it mean three way trade between the saints dogs and Sydney involving: Dogs get Bruce-Sydney get 32- Saints get Jones

Still not bad will be Brad Hill Dougal Howard and Ryder for pick 6 and next years 1st. In essence pick 6 for Hill next years 1st for Howard still ok i think

The Hill trade is a separate issue though.

Presuming current reports are accurate, once Saints original Hill offer was knocked back, they have found a way (through 2 seperate trades) to convert 6 + 59, into 10, Howard & Ryder.

Fair play to them, that is good trading

We then use 32+51 on Bruce. Keep pick 13.

Should have seen the Saints board. Many are practically begging for someone to take Newnes off them. Has quite a lot of Clangers. Wingers need to be one of the cleanest users of the ball. Something we are needing, along with a bit of pace, in the wing position. We already struggle for clean delivery inside 50 to our forwards.
