Why would West sign that though? He nowhere near enough runs on the board to command big money over a long term, he'd be locking himself into below average money if he signed anything longer. Its fairly straight forward, he kills it next year and then locks in an extension next off-season on higher coin.
That's the whole game.

We shouldn't always be the ones dictated to as a club by the agent for what a player is worth. We could potentially offer guys bigger money at a longer term now to avoid the headaches of A. A cap squeeze, or B. Them walking, later.

Dunks be like

But that's the sort of 'I know everything' attitude that seems to be the issue with Beveridge.

I don't care if he's 80, 20, or 100 years old. The opinions are valid and Beveridge and the football department would do well to listen to some outside voices. We might even improve...

Like I posted in response to another poster, if our club is implementing change, on the back of what posters on Big Footy, or those that have been away from the elite level for 40+ are suggesting, I’d be concerned for the immediate future of the club.

There wouldn’t be anyone in here that knows what’s best for our club on and off the field, over the people in charge at board level or within the football department. Sorry, but suggesting otherwise is peak delusion.

Even when outside influence is encouraged, it should be from others that are involved at the elite level.

2 year deals ******* suck...what is with the obsession with 2 year deals...the guy plays one season and then you're back at the deal table again and everyone has to go through the "will they stay or go?!" bullshit again.

Better than getting stuck with seven year deals like Collingwood did with Treloar and Grundy

Imagine if Dunkley says he's staying....

I've been in the hope-he-stays camp - until today.

Westy's signature has changed that.
I'm excited now for the trade deal, firmly believing that young Rhylee will flourish in the midfield...

...as long as he doesn't have to ruck 🤮

Yeah this, West is a gun. I agree with others that he needs to improve his tank - at 23 next year this needs to be up to scratch so he needs a big preseason. But that’s genuinely the only knock I have on him from moving into the middle so his two way running is not an issue for us.

He’s exactly what we need on the inside, a genuine bull at the stoppages, elite agility & a quick first few steps, great tackler & will to win at every contest & Libba like hands & vision. It’s a good package.

I understand peoples comments that he hasn’t shown he’s capable of replacing Dunks output yet which is true but he hasn’t had the chance to do that at AFL level yet due to opportunity & his tank. Now the opportunity is there and if he can cover even some of the loss of Dunks and we can use those assets to improve other parts of the side it’s a win for us IMO.

I’m excited to rebalance the list

I propose we make a late play for Adrian Dodoro as our recruiter in the hope that the Rory Lobb deal falls over at the last minute...

I'm OK with them. Means the club doesn't carry the risk of long term issues and the player is backing themselves to perform.
