Interesting to look back at a few of our recent trades now given we now have a rough idea of what last years ones look like now

Lobb will essentially now be for pick 33 last year and pick 33-35 this year

Dunks will be 21 (Clarke) last year and 14-18 + 33-35 this year

Very happy with Lipinski for 43 (Arty Jones) after watching the Pies on Saturday Lippa is still the slow soft footballer he was with us and will be dropped this week

Young for 52 which was used in the Darcy bid and he is now in the same boat as Lippa same issues he had with us popping their head up and playing multiple games in the 2s
In hindsight we got pretty ripped for Dunks but don’t really think we could have done any better. Hopefully we really nail one of the picks in a big way which would make up for it.

We 100% did but sadly we really didn't have that much leverage

All we need is a straight sets choke job which could very well happen if they don't finish top 2 and it won't be look as terrible

Don’t forget we gave back 2 x 3rd rounders in the Dunkley trade too.

I’m in the rather not camp for Ginnivin. I realise he’d be inexpensive but the fact that he kicked 40 goals last year and can’t get a gig this year is concerning considering the forward line woes of the team he’s currently at.

I just don’t know who we’d play him ahead of in 2024, you’d think Darcy, Clarke and A Jones will all demand forward line opportunities next year so there’s going to be a bit of spot shuffling as it is.

Poulter couldn't get a game either he is looking very handy for us

He'd be at worst depth over Scott or McComb types

The chased Bobby Hill as a replacement who is playing very good football.
Plus they have Jamie Elliot who is the footballer Cody could be

I suspect he ends up at Essendon who are even more desperate for a small forward than we are. They wheeled out the obese corpse of Walla for a season FFS

On Ginnivan though, if we really wanted a goalkicking small forward who doesn't chase much we could have had Alex Sexton last year for nothing.

The best role for West is probably where Baz is playing at the moment. High half forward with the ability to get involved in the contest as the extra mid up the ground. Baz probably needs to move into Treloar's role full time from next season to start that transition phase. Where that leaves Treloar, well I'm not too sure.

In all honesty Baz needs a stint at VFL

Lacking confidence been carried at the moment when we can not afford to carry anyone

Yeah, the wings were an area of need for us. The forward line is calling out for a small pressure forward - that isn’t Ginnivin.

Scott should be replaced by Clarke or Jones in 2024.

Baz was good on the weekend, if he brings that tackling & pressure intensity every week he plays IMO. He’s in a lean form patch but just getting him to focus on this side of his game will make him a much more rounded player when he inevitably finds his flair back

He’s definitely no where near in the drop zone considering how many we have who could be dropped

We have the small pressure types Arty/West/Scott we lack the small goal kicking type

West has footy smarts should have been played a lot more since the start of his career we stifled his development I reckon but he's come good just leave him in the team please
I think West has a tendency to go against instructions and habitually gets banished as a result.

I think he’s hit a good stretch of form so hopefully it’s all up from here.

I know we’re not privy to this stuff so maybe it’s the case but I’m really not sure what those instructions would be, maybe he makes too many forward, attacking handballs rather than going backwards like Bevo loves?

He was a bit selfish early days but he’s completely stamped that out of his game, if anything he’s gone the opposite way and now is almost too selfless, ie gives it off when he could have a shot.

I dunno every weakness in his game he’s worked on and turned into a bit of a strength, yet he’s still always one poor game away from being dropped.

It’s frustrating, can’t imagine how frustrating it is for him watching shit campaigners get game after game, we’ve played McComb over him in the forward line at times ffs

No to ginivan we have Clarke already, someone like Oliver Holland's would be so good for us run all day tackle pressure and can kick, obviously won't be getting him is anyone in the draft like him
Darcy Wilson similar profile

Clearly McComb played too much last year. Nobody would dispute that, but interestingly enough, Rhylee only played one fewer game last year than Robbie and has well and truly eclipsed him for games in the last two years now.

I think we can put the McComb bashing to bed. He’s clearly not going to be on the list next year. We were beaten up in the midfield in the 2021 grand final and the coaches tried to do something silly to fix it.

I’ve swung between being the biggest fan and biggest detractor of West for years but it’s clear to me he shouldn’t be playing VFL again, for a long time.

tbh did not think his tackling pressure and intensity stood out. Haven't looked at his tackle numbers so he may yet make me look like a fool.

One thing that stood out was his decision making and his hesitation he seemed bereft of confidence and foot skills are still an issue.

He can work on his Tackling and pressure acts in the VFL also.

Not convinced there are many ahead of him that could be dropped right now

The selfishness was certainly a problem, but there was a game against Carlton a few years ago where his defensive pressure was nonexistent and he was dropped for an extended period.

In his game against the Saints in round two he gave away lazy free kicks etc and barely touched it.

More than anything it didn’t seem like he made consistent effort in the forward line. It’s probably a role he’s learning on the job. He makes an impact every game at the moment so I really hope he stamps the position as his own and doesn’t look back.

It would clearly be when he oftens goes for the man before the ball and gets caught out goal side as happened multiple times against GWS, or when he had no intensity and no impact against the saints in R2

He had a great game on Friday but trying to pretend he still hasn't got any flaws is silly, Also McComb has hardly played this year so trying to work out the relevance of bringing his name up here

Well we can afford to carry him. Who’s the alternative? McNeil? McLean? McComb? I’d take an out of form Baz ahead of any of those players and he’d still outperform them.
