O'Brien played 7 games at AFL level and played at a standard in 4 or 5 of them that demonstrates he has the capacity and ability to play like that in an ongoing manner, vs a player who played one game?
What has TOB contributed?

He played a couple mediocre games at best and injured his hamstring twice
I am in Foxman's camp on this one. Couldn't say he was more then serviceable in any more then 2 games and his hamstrings seem to go whenever he is looking like getting some confidence.
If Buku was played in his natural position I think he wouldve contributed equally to TOB this year with the bonuses of having scope to improve and a more durable body.

This is just conjecture and highly improbable given the coaching staff wouldn't have continued to play him as a forward if they thought that this was a realistic possibility.

They also persisted with Richards forward for way to long so I don't have the greatest deal of faith in the coaching staff or match committee.
I understand your point of view though.

I haven’t seen much of him but is Kai Lohmann a better shout than Ginnivan?

He has be averaging 2 goals a game in the VFL (vs Ginnivan only 1.5 goals), is out of contract (**** Brisbane), can play up the ground a bit as well, is a Ballarat boy so might be interested in playing back home 2 games a year.

My understanding was that about 8 weeks Roarke had conceded his body is cooked and would move on. Things may of changed now that he has a return to play time line.

It’s a shame, as he has genuinely never had a run at it. I’d like to go him for one more year. I would like him to play the Duryea role if we confident in the wing depth.

More of a dynamic player imo. Can take hangers and has x-factor.

I heard Brisbane had tried him playing off half back?

That average is inflated by 7 against Coburg in a flogging.
Alot on here are very keen on him though.

I like Roarke having come around to him over the past 2-3 seasons - but we've been giving him just one more year in the hopes he can get a run at it since 2015.

At some point it doesn't matter how good you are, your unavailability renders you just as useful as a guy who isn't up to it. At his best Roarke is a serviceable role player but we just can't keep carrying him and bury our heads in the sand.

It sucks for him and for us, but this has to be it for him imo.

There are 9 players in the entire comp who are under 24 and have kicked 30 or more goals this year.

3 of them are Bulldogs.

Great stat.

Need to find the replacement for Jones to pair with JOD & Buss long term + get some new pure midfielders to run through there.

Could be one of those off funny off seasons, where we may not have to delist anyone at all. Potential retirements in Bruce, Hannan, Crozier, Rourke. Potential trade requests or free agency moves in Sweet, Williams etc, based on all the rumors listed here. McLean might pull the plug or request a fresh start. A fair few list spots opening up on their own.

Predicting we will trade for, or sign a couple of players off FA. And draft four players. With a similar turn over next season. Just hope we actually get the trades and picks right.

One thing about taking players who are out of favour or who have been delisted is that they often return to their long term form line before long.

Hope we plunder the draft and look at gold trade and FA opportunities, but I don’t see the point in replacing fringe mature aged players with other fringe mature aged players.

What’s Lohmanns speed, pressure, ground level work and tackling like? That’s all I care about if we’re bringing in a forward. Honestly all of Cody, Naughty, Marra & Darcy will avg over 40 goals a year, we got a heap of scoring power, we don’t need anyone else to jump on heads

Depends what we’re calling mature if it’s under 23-24yos I don’t necessarily agree. We definitely need a massive refresh of youth but at the same time if we cut majorly deep there’s no real point bringing in multiple 18yo pick 80s & rookies. At that stage I’m okay with taking a couple of types like Hore, Garner, Chatfield, McPherson etc

Yeah it means we’re replacing mature aged battlers with mature aged battlers, but if you’re gonna take them you’re better off cycling them quickly. You’re going to get a similar floor or lower end of performance, but there’s the chance they could actually step up and offer something more - our problem is we give these types way too many years after it’s clear they’ve got no upside.

Should be cycling them every 2 years max

I think our biggest issue is all of mature age depth guys are all to similar. McComb, Roarke, Hannan, Mclean, Mcneil, Poulter, Baker, Scott. They're all Half forwards or wings. I'd want to move the first 4 and keep the second. Happy to bring in one or two more mature guys in different positions as back up (small defender and or interceptor).

Yeah agreed, I’m really coming around to Chatfield in particular, I think he’d be worth a spot on the list
