Whereas I'd argue the opposite. He doesn't and never had a plan B - he never taught a defensive mindset to any of the playing group, they had and have no work ethic when the going gets tough. He had an ultra talented list with endless top draft picks, yet completely butchered any attempt at list and salary cap management (not entirely his fault) - and failed to win anything.
To be fair, he had Jason McCartney as his list manager. The guy who knocked back a first rounder (?) for Josh Hill and went for some other dude with a first rounder who luckily knocked us back because he was delisted the following year.

I think it's an interesting argument.
I've seen an interesting perspective that he did well to get everyone working together in the same direction.

It would be difficult with so many top picks to get them to sacrifice and play roles rather than try to be a star.

Such a strange failed experiment was the plastics.

Hunter.

I was told last week that Hunter has been told to explore his options.

A few other de-listings like JJ and Schache will also free cap space. Bont also took unders to stay.
We also have to cover upgraded contracts for Macrae, English, Smith, Daniel, Dale, Dunkley and others if all re-sign. Reckon at least 1 of these go if we are offering big bucks to a Barass

We haven't even considered movement of our mid-pricers.
I get the feeling that there will be more than one surprise move this year

Not to mention the necessary (massively) overpaying of players to get them to even consider staying, plus the constant turnover of their stars - in the time he was there he had Cameron, Shiel, Lobb, Treloar, Steele, Adams walk out and that’s not even getting started on the mid tier which there’s literally probably 20 odd names you could reel off. Imagine trying to build a cohesive gameplan/team with that sort of turnover - would be completely toxic imo I actually think he’s done well to get them as far as he did.

Champion team over team of champions yada yada yada

And i will double down.

We are having a massive crack at Barass ❤️
Where there's a will, there's a way, I guess. Go Sam Power!

Would be fascinating how we're selling it to him though. And to the Eagles. He's there only genuine experienced KPD who is going to still be around when they'll likely be on the upswing again. Maybe he's got some friendship/family connection with Naughton or English (or Garcia!). I'm guessing it's not JJ!

Or maybe we're going for the retro 1985/86-like teams brimming with tall Sandgropers?!

English = Purser
Naughton = Beasley
Barrass = Rance

Port know they are cannon fodder with Dunkley.

He just re-opened a pub in Victoria. He ain't leaving the state.

Didn’t know the pub thing..interesting.
He's one of several partners in the pub though, so not like he's manning the bar during the week! I suspect he could live in Adelaide, maintain his investment in the pub and leave it to the other partners to run it.

David Darcy moved to Adelaide in his prime (think he was working for the PMG at the time - what is now AusPost?). Eventually came back, and we still ended up with Luke, and now Sam. So in about 50 years, we should be able to nab Dunks' grandson while the other clubs howl about our decades of father-sons and grandfather-father-sons, and what a leg up it gives us!
