I think the squad was pretty banged up after 21 and never achieved full fitness in 22. And some key players were carrying injuries throughout 22 Bont & Keath spring to mind. Bont wasn't anywhere near as productive in 22 and I think a lot of that was injuries based.
Hopefully the few extra weeks and a full preseason can see a better 23
This:

Buku is a very talented footballer with a high ceiling. His main challenge to this point has been to develop his tank. But I've seen enough to be optimistic about his future.

I have high hopes for Buku, reads the play well and takes a good mark. If he can get a big preseason into him he will come on leaps and bounds.

Needs to build tank and add some strength

While none of the names mentioned above excite me much has anyone considered maybe we are going to lose Cordy? He has a two year contract on the table from us and hasn’t signed. And people have also suggested that Keath will retire as well. If that’s the case we need to add some depth. And hopefully a couple of young kids in the draft.

Don’t blame him if he goes. Had to play back, forward and ruck at stages this year. And also in and out of the side.
The magnet moving is becoming a joke.

We’ve been brilliant defensively under Bev, this year obviously not so much.
I don’t know why people think we can’t again sort this out.

So pessimistic with the doom and gloom.

This year made no sense to me. Everyone keeps saying we set up in a way that would help our leaky back 6… yet it didn’t look that way at all. Ball ping ponged the length of the field so easy all year and our backs were in no mans land. Been a really bad defensive year.

I was at work and had a guy walk in with full bulldogs gear and I said how much love I had for the club and he said
Are you a Melbourne supporting trying to troll me? Told him how long I had been following the club, still didn’t believe me

Wasn’t even a unique situation, had the same or similar thing happen throughout my whole life.

I’d go on record saying we are one of the most if not THE most pessimistic supporter base in the league

I don’t think TOB would be on much and he only got a 2 year deal.

Plus he had a interrupted preseason, I am still hopeful he can turn things around.

I didn’t watch a lot of Hawthorn so can’t comment. But in his dogs games, he looks slow, an average kick, an average decision maker, not overly intense and was pretty easily knocked off the ball.
He’s got a nice pair of hands, that’s about it. Maybe he was injured but I can only go with what I saw and I’ll be very surprised if he plays more than 5 games for us next year.

Until the last couple of rounds last year, we had the fewest points against and the talk was still always around how good the Dees were with May & Lever. This year we adapted a new “style” that exposed us terribly into a defensive sieve. A new structure is definitely required, along with giving up so much territory all over the field, which is even more important.

He should never get even considered for a spot ahead of Khamis

You've just described Danny From Droop Street.

How do you think the Coodabeen Champions came up with him? 😁

We're slowly becoming St Kilda.

Overpaying for mid tier - mediocre trier's while we have an elite player walk.
Gerard Whately had a good line on radio today. Joel Selwood has played in more winning finals than …….. ………………………………………………………………………..……………………………..,.St Kilda.

That is funny and staggering. But because it comes from a Geelong fanboy flog it's just sickening.

Totally agree.
I’m confident we will come up with a new plan next year.
Semi confident it will be a good one. Certainly no need for over the top doom and gloom just yet 👍

Stef Martin should be driven around the boundary today.

Sick of these list management decisions.

He is only going to be on the list to be a ruck coach so they can keep his money out of the soft cap. A rookie list spot doesn’t hurt anything.

He will only be used in a break glass emergency, if at all.

Why would we not do that?

Because we're apparently also wasting a slot on a cooked Wallis as well.

Dale Morris, Matt Boyd, JJ, Liam Picken all say - that’s a ****ing stupid idea !!!!

Ok. Two rookie spots for coaches / pseudo players, big deal

And if they stay on the main list? Wasting spots on the list on two players that should never be playing when we're already carrying a lot of list cloggers is quite frankly garbage list management.

We can’t laud Sam Power for being the list manager from heaven and then bag him in the next breath for managing soft cap issues.

It’s our best 22 that counts not players 41 and 42 on the list
