We can’t get decent picks for Dunkley. Geelong gets pick 7 for picking up a decent player in Bowes.

Can we please be the ones to deal with Gold Coast next year? Geelong gets to bend them over every year and it looks quite fun

I wouldve thought if GCS shopped Bowes with a 2nd round pick and nothing back there would be takers and they'd still have 7.

I think the off putting part of it is that Geelong are able to restructure the contract and spread it out over more years.

Why couldn't Suns do that? (Or is it simply a case of him refusing to do so? )

Would have been great if Dunks was okay going to whichever Queensland team wanted him. Straight swap Dunks for pick 7. Bowes could be parcelled off with a future second.

It would’ve. I don’t blame him though, I’d be staying as far away from that place as possible

Gold Coast would ask for Fremantle’s future second rounder linked to the Kangaroos for Jeremy Sharp if the Dockers can do a deal on Lobb that allows them the picks to bring in the Suns wingman. Dockers want a first rounder for Lobb. Dogs saying no

Embarrassing from Freo. I get we have to offer overs but gee wizz.

The only flaw is that Suns are having to salary dump so couldn't have paid Dunkley absolute top dollar. That's gonna be a very hard no from Dunks.

Honestly I rather walk away from the Freo deal if they persist with first round BS for Lobb. A guy who has played two good seasons out of 10, 30 years old and likely to regress sooner than later. Can understand if he was 25.

I rather take 11, 21, 30 and 39 into the draft.

Phillipou, Humphery, Busslinger, another slider

Weddle/Hayes/Cowan

Clarke

Van Es

Four weak spots filled in with talented players, instead of banking on one player for two good years, who may not even reach that. And stuff all draftees. Pick him up for free next year

Is Cadman from Bacchus Marsh? It’s 56 km from Geelong and 61km from Richmond. I think this just about seals his destiny. He’ll be comin’ home to the Bellarine Peninsula in 2024.
They'll even nickname him Cat Man

When did we get pick 21 lol

Pricks may end up not having to pay for pick 1 either ffs. We 100% should bid on fletcher as a FU
The thing is, GWS should bid on Ashcroft regardless. Brisbane have "signed" him for 4 years already so there is no chance they won't match.

Be democratic and keep the bastards honest.

Surely AFL sign off on Lions trading both picks. They’re using it to bring in Dunkley, pick 1 & another first rounder FFS and would help them get it across the line which otherwise may fail.

Been saying for a week that 21 + F1 + F2 + F2 for Dunks + 39 very simply gets it done. Happy to make it 30 back to them.

Ship 39 + F2 to Freo which sureeeely flipping gets it done.

Leaves us with 21 & F1 & F2 & Lobb for Dunks, 30 & 39 which is a reasonable result and a solid compromise from everyone’s position on Day 1.

Leaves us with just 11 & 21 at this years draft, plus 2x F1s & 2x F2s which is probably be looking to trade back into this years R1 so we have 3 good live picks.

Would you rather be Collingwood and bring in a bunch of mediocre players?
It's been a wierd trade period with Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and StKilda all doing SFA and not really even being in the running for anyone. They're normally all over anything with a pulse.

Pies have been crazy busy. Have added Hill, Mcstay, Frampton and about to add TMitchell. Will lose Henry and lost Grundy.

I sincerely hope the Dunkley trade materialises without us getting bent over; same with Lobb as he adds a massive structural benefit for us next year.

If Lobb doesn’t make it, not the end of the world, our starting centre for next year based on Bevos form will be:

Ruck- Liam Jones
Centre - vandermeer, Mccomb, Hannan

Sounds like the Suns didn't want him.

"the report states the backman loves the club that drafted him with the 10th Pick in the 2016 AFL draft – where he was once seen as a potential future skipper – with an eye towards playing in its first premiership side, and he even agreed to a significant pay cut two years into his current deal.

Furthermore, Bowes’ parents relocated from Cairns to Gold Coast to be closer with him and played a big role in creating a support network for players at the Suns as well as his grandmother frequently hosting young draftees early in their careers.

The report also revealed Bowes bought a house in Queensland and that his partner is from the state."

...

"It’s understood those close to Bowes believe he first saw signs that his situation could unravel midway through the 2021 season when he featured in several rolling All-Australian sides yet wasn’t inside Gold Coast’s top 10 in the best and fairest count in the same period.

And so when the Suns told him at this year’s exit meeting they were keen to trade him, he was left disappointed but not shocked. While on holidays in Bali he was left irritated by some media reports calling him a ‘wantaway Sun.’"

The AFL have already ruled this out for Port in the JHF mega trade. It can't happen.

""The only reason that fell through — it was ready to go through — was that Andrew Dillon, the league’s top legal counsel, and the league basically blocked it because Port couldn’t use a future first and a future second," Browne explained on Roo, Ditts & Loz for Breakfast."

“They thought the AFL might bend the rule to get this through. Andrew Dillon went and checked the commission papers to double check the fine print on this rule, and there was no bending it,” he stated on Triple M.

“Other clubs have relied on this rule being in place, so I don’t know why they thought they could get it done."

The funny thing is that turning Lobb into Sharp is an objectively good deal for them, Lobb closer to the end and really only having the one good season while Sharp in his second or third season.

GWS pulled a dodgy with Melbourne back in 2012 by not bidding on Toumpas or Viney after getting a sweet trade for Jesse Hogan from the Dees.
