What baffles me, is how we went from the best at defending defensive coast to coast transition against opposing teams, and teams not getting big runs of goals against us, instead we kicked a few in a row ourselves routinely in 2021. To a massive fall off the cliff only a year later, and still struggling this season. Our team is hardly much different, Dunks and Hunter the only big names missing off the top of my head. The same midfield are at their peak age now. Like what happened?

You could argue our forward line is probably not as dominant in the air as the 2021 team, but probably have better small players now. Defense is marginally better now with Jones and Richards. Midfield has mostly the same players. How can we suddenly forget how to play football over night? Went from being able to move the ball well and have a dominant and open forward line, and a team that could defend the field well. To suddenly being horrible at all? Just can't put my finger on it.

What a pathetic season it has been. So angry right now.

And we won’t even get to see Busslinger, Gallagher or Clarke this year either.
Buss and Galla have been hurt all season and Clarke only just found some form in the last 3 weeks

These boys aren’t ready from a fitness standpoint mate. Gallagher may be close but the other two we just cannot guarantee will be able to run out a game at AFL level.

Both have had LTI struggles. Both didn’t get a full preseason. Let’s develop them properly. We don’t need them playing AFL in their first year.
Gallagher probably would have debuted by now except for a terrible run with injury - breaks and viral, nothing to do with the kid's application.
I'm still pretty happy with what he's shown this year at VFL level. Drafted as a defender but looks like he can play multiple positions

Pretty disappointing that we gave Gardner a 3 year deal and he’s already been jumped by a 21 year old who was playing cricket only recently (not slighting JoD at all in this comp).

The club pumped him up a lot in response to the criticisms he received, gave him three years (who on earth were we bidding against there?), and he’s gone backwards at an alarming rate.
Could very well be at base or not far off it. Guys at Gard's level do tend to sacrifice salary for security.
Baker for 2 years (instead of 1) was a little bit of a head-scratcher but that may be the same case.

Gardner and baker I have no issues with on base money and can preform when needed, unfortunately we've relied to heavily on them.

On the weekend Zaine Cordy looked like the player we all thought he'd be after 2016.

14 disposals with 10 intercepts.
True, but against a barely AFL standard team

You could easily argue he isn't a top 20 KPD without much effort

Easily better then him:
Allir, Ballard, Pearce, Collins, Andrews, May, Weitering, Wilkie, Moore, Taylor, Sicily, Jones, Barrass, Lever, Ridley, De Konning

Debatable:
Buckely, Cox, Howard, Murphy, Payne, McCartin, Grimes, BZT, Himmleberg

He is a very very athletically capable player but watching him 2 weeks ago did not make me jealous of not having him at all

Says more about last weeks game vs the Tiggers

We all thought we turned it around and our ball movement was back but in reality we were playing a team that has checked out and as you put it barely AFL standard

Baker I do given he was already out of the team when they did it
Baker and Gardner should never be walk up starts. Cheap Reliable depth is very important if you want to retain guys like Naughton, English and co. Once you're 20-30th players start being on 350k or over 28 you start running into problems.

All I can say is next year how we play is going to be interesting. Big year for the club

Yes. I don't rate Richmond at all - even if you ignore their injuries, the only blokes they have that can win the ball can't kick.

Richmond were pathetic and we still only outscored them by 11 points after quarter time. There was nothing to take from that game other than we were actually switched on for a quarter against a side that wasn’t.

So because Baker wasn’t in the team you have a problem that he was given a 2 year contract extension. Maybe the contract was agreed upon before he was omitted from the team
Well since he has signed the extension has he been anything other then sub or in the 2s,

His start to the season was fine but didn't warrant re-signing him for 2 years so quickly

Describes our season "switched on for a quarter"

According to the HS Article

Gold Coast offering pick 4 for back end picks for Academy
Keen to re-sign Sam Flanders
Will listen to offers for Hollands
We need to definitely get in on the conversation for that draft pick and go hard for it
