Question to all the people on here that know more about list management than I do.

As Sweet looks like he's gone. Do we have a contingency plan if English gets injured, or if he leaves next year as a free agent?

P.s. I don't think playing Lobb or Darcy as full time rucks is a contingency plan.

Do what we did with Sweet and draft a back up in the rookie like most clubs also do

Nervous about selling the farm for a tasmanian player with a tassie team coming into the AFL in a few years...

My thoughts too. It seems a perfect storm with McKercher too, 2 year draftee contract, sign a 2 year extension then wait for the $$$ to come from the Tassie team. We certainly need his type though and I guess we would just have to back ourselves in to make him want to stay and hope he enjoys life in Melbourne.

Worst case if he did go home, he won't be a free agent and Tassie will be given alot of tools to get a good trade done.

I think he's the one for us should we get pick 4 with Duursma likely gone and Watson's height being a risk that high in the draft.

Find a state league type. Brayden Crossley is good. Got booted from the Suns a few years ago for getting on the nose beers.
Crossley gets mentioned here a bit. But I reckon something's on the nose with him as other clubs with crap ruck stocks (Pies, Tigers, Cats etc)
Haven't shown any interest.

Nope

In some ways we have put all our Eggs in one basket - English

I think we need to trade for a ready made ruck in somehow.

The Dogs knew Sweet was gone well before today so they have had notice.

Not fussed in the slightest about losing Sweet. He's played 11 games in 5 and I highly doubt he will ever be anything more than a backup journeyman ruck type in the Tom Campbell/Brayden Preuss type mould.

A great VFL player who can fill in on rare occasions when needed but not worth paying anything close to average wage for. We'll find someone off a state list to fill his position.

Will get a 3rd round pick for him at best as part of the ruckman merry go round.

Hopefully this means English is staying past next year, although I don’t think they’re necessarily related.

Port need to shift someone to get everything done you’d think, give us Duursma pls he’s not even very good but we could use him 😂

Not sure I'd have Coffield or Tomlinson ahead of some of those depth defenders.

Coffield hasn't played AFL football in 2 years and struggles to even keep fit for the VFL.

The year on year merry-go-round with Tomlinson on this forum is just odd to me. Has never been an impressive footballer other than being a good size.
Tomlinson is one of those individuals with a God almighty massive head.
