If we had the option for 2 picks around 10 as well as Croft that would be a little different

That would be my preference if we could make it happen - but I do get what you’re saying !!

So the options are plenty but here are three:

Lalaland: pick 10-13 Ollie Murphy, pick 16-19 Friejah, DeMattia? Croft slips and Lual gets to 40 and we match him with Sweet etc and maybe go into deficit

Amityville: Croft nominated at 11-12 we have to match, next pick goes out to 23ish we pick an ok player like George Stevens or the other big mid Stevens, Lual picked at 30 we can’t Match, pick a an OK ish play at 36ish - like Callinan or a gut runner and late pick roughy ruck or small forward

Unicorn: 10, 16-17 and F2 for 4. Get McErcher or Sanders or Watson, Match Croft with 36 and Sweet, Match Lual and get a late roughy - winger, ruck or small forward.

I hope we also see some internal recruits - both change of role and development of kids over preseason:

Some potential from chats here:

- Artie develops consistency around speed/pressure and becomes a regular starter half forward and wing.
García also develops to bring speed and aggression as a kid forward - is way way better than McNeil, McComb brings something with his burst but must fix his kicking
  • Buss develops strength to becomes intercept mark
  • Darcy fit and some more speed to become a great threat in all three zones
  • Khamis gets a bit more speed and tank to become the marking HFF and can drop back and take intercept marks
  • Daniel swaps with West and plays a super smart and crafty small forward
  • Weightman builds his tank more to impact games
  • English, Naughty and JUH continue to develop naturally
  • Smith and Keath get their mojo back
  • West becomes a regular mid with forward rotation and forms a great combo with Trelor and Smith to gives a genuine top 4 - 6 Mids
  • Gallagher has a break out as a hard back pocket to replace JJ if he goes down. Will be fighting with Louis Vuitton (LVDM)

Left field:

  • Williams trains as inside mid - now has the tank and has very good size so we don’t get bullied
  • Red to play midfield and Cleary to play his role
  • Naughton to rotate into midfield when Bont goes off - turn this weakness into a strength

Watson would help us with hitting the scoreboard, getting teammates into the game and I think he would develop the quickest of the lot of players in that early bracket
I’m more worried about it ending up in a combination where our best choice is Daniel Curtin who I do like, but certainly don’t see him as a key defender been his best position even with his height

North would be idiots not to choose Curtin.

There will be no restrictions on how they can use this year's or next year's priority picks.

Wouldn't think so.

Im not a picks nerd but Norf getting pick 11 and something next year may complicate it.

Melbourne getting someone decent in return for Grundy as well might be a factor.

Croft has really ****ed us this year.
we can always pass on him

Bit silly to hypothesise pick trades until the draft shakes up and we know where Croft may end up. He could go anywhere between pick 5 and 35 realistically and the main priority is just getting an additional pick ahead of any bid for him, not so much focusing on this pick or that.
