And sweet in the English role would be such a massive downgrade that we'd be worse off overall.

People's expectations of Lobb are so unrealistic. A goal a game and 5 mins a quarter in the ruck is basically elite in that role.

Lobb stats

R1-R17

15 games, 14 goals, 138 disposals (9.2pg), 39 marks (2.6pg), 10 contested marks (0.67pg)

R20-R24

5 games, 10 goals, 68 disposals (13.6pg), 26 marks (5.2pg), 10 contested marks (2pg)

I don’t think it’s unrealistic that we wanted more out of him for the first 15 games. Was having a very poor season, essentially career lows across the board until a good finish to the year post dropping.

Would be a strange one. I can’t imagine Lobb would want to request a trade for the third year in a row and I guess fifth(?) time in his career. Can’t remember if GWS let him leave first time or he was made to stay. I imagine if he leaves it would be because we want to do it as well which I don’t quite understand.

His last four weeks were very good. I don’t think it would be great business for us to let him leave. His first 15 weeks were awful but that sometimes happens when players go to new clubs. Found his feet later in the season.
If Lobb is requesting a trade it would be because the Saints are offering an extra year/extra guaranteed money. Dude is a mercenary

Wouldn’t be the worst thing if Lobb requests a trade. Would be a big investment into Darcy, surely he can’t have as bad as a run with injury in 2024 again.

If we believe Darcy is ready and can get out of 3 more years of Lobb I'm okay with it.
Or if we decide to go Sweet with English as 3rd forward/ruck

More than happy to move him on for a 3rd rounder

What? You’d be happy with a 3rd rounder?

Cost us two 2nds less than 12mths ago and is mid contract.

Where’s all this Lobb talk coming from and if true is him leaving being driven by us or him?

Seriously not a good look either way?

Suspect it’s the latest piece of BS dreamed up by someone, spread as fact and then spoken about across 30 pages of BF, including arguments over hypothetical trades and questions about the state of our club culture.

I take the opposite view. Darcy barely getting through 3 games all year is exactly why we got Lobb and why we need him next year.

Agree. Apart from Lobbs last handful of games, he contributed no less than what Darcy would have had he been fit.

I’m happy either way, but if we can bolster our draft hand this year with Lobb going I’d be ok with that.

Realistically what would we be getting in that trade? I’d be asking for Saints 32 and 13 for Lobb and 17.

Plus his body is not ready.
He has had another interrupted season.

With Sweet going we will be very thin in the ruck should Lobb go also.

Has anyone got thoughts on Lochie Obrien from Carlton? Did read he is on way out, at least he is a true wingman. Good depth being a former first round pick.

Seems pretty far fetched but if it were true it wouldn’t be a disaster given the need to play Darcy, would give us some good draft capital too.

Can’t see it happening though.
Disagree. It would be a disaster. He's the only half reliable kick at goal we have.
Naughton and JUH fill me with very little confidence.
The state of affairs with our training methods when our two best shots at goal are our two ruckmen shows the issue starkly.

Our kicking for goal is a reflection of our field kicking.

Concerning that both kicking at goal and field kicking has not improved but most likely has regressed.

I don't think Lobb's going anywhere. We committed to him for 4 years for a reason and to try to push him out now would look like a monumental fail. From his point of view, he's in a comfortable space with another 3 years on good coin. Darcy is still an unknown quantity in terms of fitness and durability so Lobb has a role to play. Certainly however, the coaches need to demand a more consistent performance from him.

Port fans are wanting duursma goooonnneee

He did shit the bed last night, but he wasn't alone. Why play a right footer on the left wing is a puzzle, but why did Port setup to just bomb it long into their F50 for the Lions defenders to pick off is another...

Sam Power is at the East Fremantle vs Peel Thunder (Freo Reserves) semi final today at Fremantle Oval [emoji102]

Was Clay Hall playing? We could’ve been taking a look at him. Midfielder.

I doubt it would be us looking to offload.

Lobb looking to move clubs shouldn’t surprise anyone though surely? Remember, we’re his 3rd.

It’s unlikely, but don’t think it can be written off. We’ve had some good inside info from several posters of late.

How does our drafting group work. I thought a guy Milesi (?) was in charge. Does he answer to Power and Sam makes the final decision? Does this mean both Milesi and Power have to see all the potential draftees ( or the top ranked 10, 20, more?) to get an idea of relativity. I understand we have a team of scouts watching potential players, getting vision and submitting reports. Then I thought Milesi decided a final order and we work our way through that list. I thought Powers role was contracts but may have that wrong.
