Although the report is that we will shift all of our focus to Bergman now that Butters is likely staying put for one more year and Rowell has re-signed I'm being told that isn't entirely true. We still have strong interest in Bergman ( about 4th in line though) but we are also now HEAVILY targeting Zac Bailey who like Butters has one year on his contract before becoming a free agent.
Tough to see Bailey going anywhere really. He's a flog but we'd all accept him as our flog 😆

Supposedly Dogs are trying to lure a prominent small forward out of an interstate club, wasn’t given a name but have heard it twice now from seperate industry contacts.

Anyone got any idea?

Based on stuff I’ve seen posted elsewhere since and no inside knowledge of my own, I’m guessing this is Zac Bailey.

He has played shut down roles successfully on both talls and smalls though.
Edit to add. Port are doing everything they can to keep him. Playing him in the midfield and curiously adding him to the leadership group mid season, which is something I can't remember seeing before.
Yes I know, he's medium height with decent skills and a penetrating kick. I'd have his kicking as one of his strengths.

I didn’t read the thread before my post haha

Was reading a few things across other boards and given what we were told here I assume it’s been Zac Bailey for a while now.

Wow, that's exciting. Bailey would be amongst my 5 favourite non-Bulldogs to watch. Has some freakish abilities.

He matches the type we have looked to bring in to a tee. You can definitely see what we are trying to build.

Going for all the Zacs aand Zaks to go with all the Rhylees
It's the soft landing exit as we gradually move away from hoarding Baileys. They have proved to be a mixed bag.

Love to have him but Brisbane are very much in contention, so he would be moving for the money unless his spot is under threat (doesn't appear so) or they have salary cap issues on the horizon (possible).

yeah brisbane might just have the best culture of any club in the league atm

heard that a couple of the players they've signed the past few years were weighing up their options until they checked out brisbane. then after they did they've told their managers 'done searching get me to brisbane' (or something like that)

I agree with most regarding Brisbane's ability to retain players. With that said though should they expect he will test the market as a free agent next year they may prefer to move him this year.
As opposed to Port a trade will likely net them better picks then free agency compensation.

Name one current player who left the Lions?

I struggled to think of any - really speaks to their player retention strategy.
Jack Crisp - the best steak knives in recent memory. A few years ago now though.

Their player retention is generally very good, but there are a few; Ben Keays, Jack Crisp, Dan McStay, Jack Gunston, Elliott Yeo, Alex Witherden.

Their list is currently a bit lopsided, with heaps of good mids/mid forwards and thin for talls.

They may need to let a good mid/forward go to create space for an Oscar Allen.

or maybe Danniher money was banked for Allen.

I was thinking of the time we prised out their 200 gamer Jed Adcock.
