The one thing I can’t understand in all this: why trade Sweet.
He was out of contract and had every right to go somewhere where he’d get games.

Because Sweet wanted to leave simple as thatThe one thing I can’t understand in all this: why trade Sweet.
Have you been watching Smith's development over last season and this pre season??Neither LSmith or Gardner are adequate as an AFL 1st choice ruck.
But clearly, neither is Timmy
Offered him a contract. So did Port as first ruck. Then they recruited Soldo. He was poor, Sweet became first ruck. Port are still bog ordinaryThe one thing I can’t understand in all this: why trade Sweet.

But 1 of the 3 is 19, developing well and loves a contestNeither LSmith or Gardner are adequate as an AFL 1st choice ruck.

Don’t disagree with what you’re saying about Tim, but disagree with the Brisbane part. Getting to the grand final is just as hard as winning it, the big O was unbelievable in the ruck for the season.Tim’s last 5 games as a collective have been horrendous. 4/5 times he been completely destroyed (Grundy, O Brien, Meek and Xerri). His only reasonable effort was against Gawn.
He should have been traded/let go. Never overpay for rucks. Lions won a flag with Darcy Fort as the number 1 ruck.
He will change his tune until Geelong come into the frame and will be their mouthpiece againJay Clark on first crack saying the dogs will keep JUH and not allow it to become a fire sale.
I think his final year with us he was actually pretty good in the VFL, but there was one year where a lot of people around here were desperate for him to play while he was getting touched up by Peter Ladhams types in the VFLSweet was getting flogged by VFL ruckman hence we weren't jumping through hoops to re sign him.
Good. Nothing pisses me off more than us letting go of ''troubled'' players for them to go rip it up elsewhere.Jay Clark on first crack saying the dogs will keep JUH and not allow it to become a fire sale.
Jordan De Goey and Clayton Oliver good examples of players who were kept despite their issues.
Felt like he was saying we laid down for the cats in the Smith trade. They weren’t going to pay more though. And I’m sure I can pull a quote from him saying “it’s a first round pick” or something similar.Jay Clark on first crack saying the dogs will keep JUH and not allow it to become a fire sale.

I think he said Smith made it difficult because he only wanted to go to one club.Felt like he was saying we laid down for the cats in the Smith trade. They weren’t going to pay more though. And I’m sure I can pull a quote from him saying “it’s a first round pick” or something similar.

He was always only wanting to go to one club. That's how it works. That's how it was engineered.I think he said Smith made it difficult because he only wanted to go to one club.
Coffields half game so far was superbI know this is too early
But reckon this is the last year of Baker and Coffield on the list
Unleash GardyI had no idea Baker even existed until recently.
Be interesting to see how long we persist with Lachie Smith. I know ruckmen are often slow maturing types but if English goes down, is he our immediate replacement? Is he even ready? Or are we going down the route of taking Darcy out of the forward line to ruck for us? Lobb surely has to stay down back, with JUH a non-starter then who replaces Darcy up forward? Naughton can’t be the only tall down there.
That was a rabbit hole I didn’t foresee myself going down.
We would have been a man down. He’d be on the bench too I reckonCrossley struggled to jog to the quarter time huddle in a practice game. He'd be a dead set liability in a game where we ran out of rotations with 4 minutes to go
Joel Freijah was more competitive than TimIf you’re an opposition coach you would be much happier with Darcy in the ruck than Darcy up forward. Especially with all the uncertainty around JUH.
Sadly you are right though. Darcy already is more competitive than Tim in the ruck.
Tim should have been moved to a club crying out for a 2nd ruck/forward. He worked that role well when it was Naughton/Bruce as the KPFs in 2021.
Because he had to pay be the Cotton On backersI think he said Smith made it difficult because he only wanted to go to one club.
Xerri did not win one effective tap against Freijah as far as I could see.Joel Freijah was more competitive than Tim
Darcy has everything in his kit to be the most unstoppable forward in the league
There would be 17 teams in the league hoping we move him to first ruck. He should never spend less than 70% of the time up front
