Surely Marra would be make a better Key back than Young or Silvagni or Butts or others that are not gettable. After watching Smith play this year, I’ll be so disillusioned if Marra goes to another club and does well. Means we are poor in managing complex characters and needs to be looked at. Don’t know if that’s Bevo or Edge or Bains but it needs to be better.

We didn't go hard. Our coach refused to meet players up until end of season last year. It was ridiculous and classic stubborn bevo. So far behind the times and it's cost us.

I've seen plenty of Hawks games this year where I thought Barrass is not the answer. Josh Battle I would have loved though for just salary even if he also isn't really a #1 KPD.

It's the thing that does my head in when the subject turns to our defensive issues in the media and at times in here.Its as if we have been wilfully negligent when it comes to looking for KPD solutions.

It also ignores the fact that no matter how successful we are or how much we've improved our training facilities to a point where they are amongst the best in the competition. We continue to battle pre-conceived biases that are in built with people as to our clubs position in the games hierarchy. Its why Hawthorn, Collingwood and Geelongs in the Melbournes club orbit continue to hoover up the games elite FA talent when the become available.

Its why St.Kilda have been forced to go all in chasing FA talent and risk going into the next season with an explosive cigar in one hand and with a two-seven offsuit hand in the other.

Like I said last week, Jackson Voss from Frankston is a no-brainer for a mature aged player to chase.

On paper he may not have got a $1.7m offer but I'm sure under the table with the Cotton On bonus's, budget land purchases and other undisclosed sponsorships he woud've easily got that (plus the clubs blind eye to whatever he gets up to in his own time as long as he turns up to play)

These are all just rumours with no proof to help us feel better about the situation. Fact is, clubs like Geelong rarely lose high talent and regularly bring it in. We rarely bring in high talent but regularly leak it.
If Marra works at another club but not ours, I hope us supporters demand to know why.

Could we turn Khamis, 10 and 28 into Wilkie, Budarick and Erasmus whilst netting ourselves a couple junk picks to take mature agers Voss and Scott out of the VFL. W.Darcy looks like a very late pick if not rookie at this stage. Would be a fair effort.

Would be a huge off season for that to happen. Wilkie and Erasmus would be pretty unlikely Budarick a possible guess it comes down to if he thinks he has a future with GC. Hope we can shake something good free. Wilkie would be great depending on just how disgruntled he is at the Saints

We can blame the player and if he never plays again, then we did the best we could and was just unsalvageable.
But if he joins another club and ends up a gun, do you still put the full blame on the player or do we need to look within and ask whether we have the right people in the right roles? No one knows now where the Marra story goes but I look at Smith and think premierships are hard enough. How do we lose a 23yr old All-Australian (in his next year) for peanuts. Its not like he got a $1.7m godfather offer, he just decided he didn’t want to play for us anymore.

Cotton on were in his ear and he has one eye on his marketing opportunities at all times. Plus, honestly, look at Geelongs track record playing finals since 2007. Players just froth to go there. He clearly didn’t give a **** about us when he turned up to the cats finals with their players before he had advised us he was leaving.

I hate the campaigner. Don’t blame the club for that one at all as we had every card against us.

Agree with those saying we need good medium/small defenders. Look at Scrimshaw, Hardwick and Impey today. Marvellous.

Our best in the side are Richards and Truck. I think Richards has to stay in the guts but perhaps we should put Truck back. Davo, Baker, Freijah and Arty can run the wings
