The interesting thing about Merrett's management sounding us out is the they clearly see us amongst the contending Melbourne sides next season. I guess that the club said thanks, but no thanks. We're all in on a younger better version of the same coming over next year.

I guess that Zach isn't interested in some farmland in the Western districts. Which I thought was unpossible for a footballer these days.

Our midfield is fine at the moment we have bigger problems to fix like bringing in some key defenders

An off season of Wilkie, Flanders, Budarick is suddenly a similar one the crows had last year.

With Wilkie, I think we need to understand that it’s almost no chance of happening. Sure I can see him wanting our offer and maybe even requesting a trade, but there really is no chance SOS and Ross trade him as it would essentially cost them their jobs. Imagine the outrage there if they overpaid for so many players and it cost them Wilkie as a result. There is no narrative that they could spin it as a positive, so unfortunately it’s just not going to happen.

I hope I’m wrong though.

I don't see a world where we could spend the amount of draft capital required to land Merrett. Would be an awesome player for us to land especially with Treloar and Libba heading for the cliff, but it doesn't help our win/loss if we can't fix our defence.

What Horrendous timing. We really don't need his type and recruiting Butters in 2027 for his Rabid Defensive Mongrel is more valuable.

So posters on this board have been fascinated with Butts for years? Each to their own I guess.
